Doctor Rupa Narra explains: Children are paying a devastating price in the Ebola outbreak unfolding in northeastern Democratic Republic of Congo. There needs to be a child-centered approach at the heart of medical care, operational planning, and research efforts.

We have witnessed how demolitions by Israeli forces have affected 69 families in Hebron in the last six months alone, and these numbers keep rising. Israeli authorities must stop demolitions, forcible transfer, and all measures that force Palestinians from their homes.

"They didn't even warn us — they just came and demolished everything. One soldier told them: 'Demolish it completely, I don't want to find anything left.' But whatever they do, we will stay here and try by any means to rebuild our home," said a Doctors Without Borders/MSF community health worker.

These attacks are part of a continuing pattern: On September 11, our teams at Al Attar treated 11 others injured in airstrikes. On September 13, an Israeli airstrike hit a car next to an MSF bus, injuring one of our staff. Once again, Israeli forces are showing that nowhere is safe in Gaza.

A Doctors Without Borders bus carrying 10 humanitarian staff was damaged on September 13 when an Israeli airstrike targeted a nearby vehicle in Gaza City. One MSF staff member was injured in the strike. The bus was clearly identified as an MSF vehicle, with a large sticker visible on its roof.

“After a 24-hour shift, while we were heading home or to whatever was left of it, I was looking out the window when, out of the blue, a flash of fire, the smell of gunpowder, screams, and shattered glass came through my window. ...

Eleven people with injuries from explosions and shrapnel arrived at the Doctors Without Borders Al Attar health care center in Khan Younis today, after an airstrike by Israeli forces hit near a displacement camp. Two of the wounded were transferred to Nasser Hospital for specialized care.

Airstrikes by Israeli forces continue every day in Gaza, killing and wounding Palestinians. Between September 6 and 9, Israeli forces issued 18 so-called evacuation orders and struck a building less than 250 feet from an MSF clinic. Nowhere is safe.

For more than a week, the Russian military has conducted intense missile and drone strikes on Kyiv and its immediate surroundings around the clock.  Between August 27 and September 3, at least 51 people were killed and nearly 100 injured in the Kyiv region.

Almost constant air raid alerts and explosions are also taking a severe psychological toll.  "It's very draining. People are trying to carry on with their work, but this sense of exhaustion is very noticeable, and people are getting more and more tired."—Lesia Martseniuk, mental health supervisor.

"I saw the ground shaking, I saw my own blood flowing."  An MSF patient was wounded during a recent drone attack on a food warehouse. He sustained injuries to both legs and lacerations from shrapnel across his body. MSF is providing him with physiotherapy care and psychological support.

Colombia earthquake update: The initial emergency is over, but the response is far from it. MSF teams are working in regions where needs remain greatest, including historically neglected Indigenous and Afro-Colombian communities. More: https://bit.ly/464wAs0

bit.lyUrgent needs persist three weeks after earthquake in ColombiaThe most critical gaps remain in areas that have long faced poverty, barriers to health care, and the presence of armed groups.

How do we slow the spread of Ebola disease? “The community always needs to be involved. But on top of that, we need more resources... [When] there's no response, this builds time for rumors and myths to grow, for the community to be more at risk, and for more families to be affected and die.”

🎥 The full picture: Imagine if a critical and effective HIV prevention medicine (lenacapavir) was more widely available. But instead, Gilead has priced the medicine out of reach, restricts its supply to certain countries, and refused to sell it directly to MSF. So people called it out.

No one should be denied access to health care simply because of who they are or who they love. Dignity should be at the center of receiving health care: LGBTQI+ patients should feel welcomed, safe, and listened to, and get the care they need.

A drug exists that is nearly 100% effective at preventing HIV and only needs to be taken twice a year. It's called lenacapavir. But Gilead, the company that controls it, isn't making enough available for the world. We know Gilead can make lenacapavir more accessible.

Almost every day paramedics are killed, ambulances are hit, and rescue teams are forced to adapt their work out of fear of being struck. These attacks reflect a grave failure to protect the medical mission and are severely constraining care. This must stop.
