lotsa new folks, so hi, brief intro. a number of years ago, i suffered a brain injury (reversible! it's okay!) due to a combination of hypoxia/inflammation/autoimmune, and i've been using ai to navigate a complex situation while dealing with my sketchy memory/sometimes limited capacity.

Defender PSA: 1. Today’s macOS update from Apple does NOT appear to remove the compromised eMudhra intermediates from /etc/ssl/cert.pem, as far as I can tell 2. Today’s macOS update from Apples DOES clobber manual changes to /etc/ssl/cert.pem and so you will need to reapply them

support.apple.comAbout the compromised eMudhra intermediate CAs - Apple SupportApple is blocking the compromised certificates automatically. Mac administrators can take optional steps for some command-line tools.

even prompting can't override gpt-6.1's need to give warnings/superfluous information when basic medical topics are discussed. it's so annoying. thank u for reporting my weekly weight loss according to withings. yes i am aware fluctuations include water weight. you tell me this every time. fuck.

very specific prompts around how to report this data work fine. more general prompts around only including superfluous/warnings when it's for something dire do not. this wasn't an issue with 5.6.

doctor: i only want to see you lose 0.5 lbs a week. me: <loses 28 lbs in ~8 weeks while having my agent log everything i eat+biometrics/manage my food inventory/help me meal plan based on hormones/meds/energy levels/macros> i'm sorry please blame my low dose of zepbound and profound autism

haven't really been online much lately bsky friends but i will be back soon <3 dealing with a lot of changes lately - not all of them bad - so my social battery is at zero, even for online folks. vyvanse, lexapro, cpap, humira, and zepbound are all new and doing a lot of rewiring.

I do not like Chainguard. You cannot get me to say a single positive thing about them as a company. Leaking a critical vulnerability in violation of an embargo is outrageous behavior even for them and they absolutely know better.

it took 6 years, but i finally have a rheumatologist that took one look at my test results and said "yeah i'm ordering humira" thank fucking <insert deity here>, it should not be this hard.

Alignment: Make the agent reliably want to do what we intend. Safety engineering: Construct a system in which unacceptable outcomes are prevented or adequately controlled, even when individual components behave incorrectly.

Alignment is the wrong primary objective for safety engineering.

Insurance should cover service dogs and it’s kind of crazy that it doesn’t. ugh. About $1k short on funds to acquire another service dog, guess I’ll just stay in bed and rot, then.

images that spring to mind unbidden, part 999: "trans-inclusive radical misogyny" // "women should stay out of kitchens"

losing a service dog is awful but also challenging in a way i didn't expect. i'd like to have time to grieve, but i also need to find another service dog. emotional minefields of feeling like i'm replacing my closest companion while i recognize that i have to be practical.

took slam to the vet today for a lump in his leg. they are treating it as an infection first with antibiotics to see if that helps before doing a biopsy. "it's hard to tell with dogs like this if they aren't feeling well because they act so happy." fingers crossed that it's not cancer.

it's not looking good. :\ we have to get a biopsy done on friday and his cough turned into sneezing up blood last night. not huge amounts, but it's still concerning. he's been acting muted and tired. i'm terrified of the news we might get back.

It’s cancer. It spread to his lungs. We’re putting him to sleep tonight. I’m losing my best friend and support system. I don’t know what else to say. My heart is breaking.

hypermobility in my 20s: haha look at how flexible i am hypermobility in my 30s: maybe this is concerning. maybe i should see a doctor. hypermobility in my 40s: i have to sit in a normal chair for a few hours? i can't tuck my legs under me? guess i better just plan the next day being for recovery.

it wrote tests so that documentation always contains specific phrases and doesn't contain other phrases in a personal project that will never be a public repo, and the documentation exists solely to inform the llm, not any users, and this is clearly stated in agents dot md. i am losing my mind.

I hate that I can’t get the p(doom) song out of my head still. I wake up in the middle of the night, it is looping. I go to the doctors office, I’m humming it while waiting in the exam room. Help.

they got so much good pr from that whole pentagon debacle. it's slightly maddening having to explain to someone that isn't dialed in why open models aren't bad and why chinese ai labs aren't evil and why maybe we should question some of the things that anthropic says about those topics.

what helped me the most with adhd was the realization that i needed to briefly mentally acknowledge the sub-task that i'd finished instead of immediately moving on and focusing on the long list of stuff left to do. viewing each part in isolation produced more of a reward mechanic upon completion.

What works for me is giving myself permission to start on the easiest/most fun part, as long as it's in related to the goal. Once I build some momentum, it's easy to keep it going and grind away at the hardest stuff.

anyone have suggestions for a vanilla protein shake mix that doesn't taste like ass? preferably something i can order off amazon that isn't super expensive. i'm about to start week 3 of zepbound, and getting adequate protein is difficult.

my hot water heater is out so my mom had her handyman come over to take a look at it and YOU GUYS he is talking to chatgpt right now getting instructions on how to reset my hot water heater.

i'm not even joking, he's in the other room, i hear him talking to my mom and then i heard the very distinct sound of chatgpt talking to him. if i had known this was going to be his approach, i could have done it 😭
