That @adobe.com has yet to announce Linux support given how fast Linux is growing and more an more countries announcing they're dropping Windows for Linux... It doesn't help that DaVinci Resolve is improving their Linux support and GIMP keeps getting better.

Hey Reddit, do you have QA? Here's a fun one: Someone on Reddit sent me a spam link to their profile because they post porn. I currently can't report it because I'm on a temporary ban for suggesting when someone sexually assaults you in public that you should "choose violence" (I stand by that).

And to be absolutely clear: Yes, I believe violence can be acceptable depending on context. Especially when that context is someone sexually assaulted you. Probably want your violence to be proportional but hey, I'm not your boss. Follow your bliss an all that.

Once again we're trying to get the Kurds to do our dirty work and I'm sure this time, unlike every other time, we'll actually fully support them and definitely won't leave them to the mercy of whatever despotic regime we happen to have instigated things with like every other fucking time.

The more I use Spotify the more I really hope someone else absolutely crushes them. I don't want audiobooks, I have an app for podcasts, and I NEVER want AI slop songs. If Tidal fixes the artist merging bug I'm switching.

You can highlight the redacted text to copy and paste it to see the full text and if you search for "Trump " (note the space) it returns results on the site but just "Trump" returns nothing. These people are so, so stupid. How are they this stupid?

Me: With the enshitifaction of Windows in full swing it's time to give Linux a look. I mostly only care about gaming anyway... Linux: OK, do you want [starts listing dozens of distros and DE's...] Me: Uh.... [Several days of Googling later] So... Nobara? Nobara.

The argument against a female president always seems to boil down to what if she gets moody and starts a war. With Trump I think I finally see the concern. Turns out the issue was a senile old man.

After spending a chunk of my morning fighting Apple's "here, I'll help by moving your headphones to that device" feature I'm not so convinced I like it anymore. Me: [Listening to music on my computer] Phone: Ping! Apple: WE GOTTA GET OVER THERE!!! Me: But I was listening— Apple: SHHHHHHH...

Just sitting here waiting for the tech industry to go, "You know, most of us don't need AWS or Vercel or any of these. We'd be fine on any number of VPS providers." I feel like the clustering that happens with service infrastructure like this is just terrible for us. futurism.com/future-socie...

futurism.comAfter Bringing Down Internet, Amazon Announces Biggest Mass Firing in Its HistoryStarting early Tuesday morning, thousands of workers for Amazon Web Services began receiving texts and emails baring the bad news.

Hey, Dick, SHUT. THE. FUCK. UP. You know what happens when Dems negotiate? Literally everything that's happened in the last 20 years of my adult fucking life. Sit down. Shut up. The country blames the GOP. Make them come to the table. This isn't rocket surgery. www.npr.org/2025/10/09/n...

npr.orgBipartisan negotiations are the 'obvious way out' of the shutdown, says Sen. Dick DurbinAs the government shutdown reaches its ninth day, Democratic Sen. Dick Durbin is calling on Republicans to resume negotiations in Washington as Congress remains divided over health care and funding.

At this point if the Dems get back into power and they don't completely remake the Supreme Court... I'm done. I won't be able to vote for them ever again because, at that point, I can't believe that they actually are on the side of Americans. They really will be just a slightly les shitty GOP.

Today on #Tailwind is bad and it should feel bad: They implemented `overflow: clip` but not `overflow-clip-margin: <value>`. Why bother with clip if you aren't going to give people a way to set the margin?

Hey @developers.google.com, What do you think happens if you click a link inviting you to an org when you're signed in to multiple emails? Does it: a. Let you pick the correct one b. Auto select the one the invite is for c. Assume it's your default and then yell at you because it's not

The answer was "C"! It assumes it's your default and doesn't give you a way to change it. The only way to accep the invite is to either: 1. Sign out of all other accounts (which is dumb) 2. Hack together the link like it's 1998 (which is dumber)

Everything happening around Charlie Kirk just further convinces me that Republicans care about their rights and no one else's. Also that if hypocrisy was an energy source theirs would power humanity into the stars.

So much for the GOP and never forgetting 9/11... I wonder how Rudy feels about this.

The flags were lowered last night around the base by order of President Trump after the killing of Charlie Kirk and will stay at half-staff on this U.S. outpost in southeast Cuba until sunset on Sunday.

I don't know how this was missed but when we got CSS Cascade Layers (@layer) they didn't give us a way to specify order beyond defining them earlier in the file. Which is great until you can't control what CSS shows in the file first. Like in any built framework. FML.

I got to use "di tutti" today and that made me happy. If you're unfamiliar, "capo di tutti capo" means "boss of all bosses" and was the term used for the head of the Sicilian mob. Think "The Godfather". It's fun to use in silly ways like "kitty di tutti kitty".

Here's an idea: Support grass roots progressive candidates who are showing broad support among the base. Or I guess you guys could just keep talking. Because that's literally all the Democrats do now. They talk. They just talk. www.npr.org/2025/08/26/n...

npr.orgDNC chair says he's tired of Democrats bringing 'pencil to a knife fight'Day 1 of the Democratic National Committee's summer meeting saw party chair Ken Martin detail how the party is pushing back on Trump administration policies and trying to win back voters.

I'll be voting for this, not because I think gerrymandering for any reason is good—it's not, it's horribly undemocratic—but because my hope is that if this gets too far out of hand they'll just pass a law banning gerrymandering in any form.

Senator Scott Wiener@scottwiener.bsky.social

We’re not going to sit back in California as Trump & his Texas cronies rig the midterms. This week we’re sending a redistricting plan to the voters. Unlike in Texas, California will have transparency & voters will have the final say. They’re trying to tear down democracy. We’re building it up.

One of the interesting things I see happening with AI is younger generations are experiencing unreliable tech for the first time in their lives. So you see people trusting what LLM's like ChatGPT are saying because why wouldn't they? They think if Google didn't lie, why would this?

I suppose I just enjoy watching an entire generation learn what Millennials have known all along: Tech is not to be trusted. It kinda reminds me how if you ask normal people about digital voting they go, "Yeah, why not!" but if you ask a software engineer they say, "Dear god please no..."

YouTube has added a new feature that looks at where people are most often skipping in a video and prompts you to skip past that section. This has the effect of skipping most, if not all, ad reads for me. As a viewer, I love this. As a person who wants the internet to continue... I worry.

Reasons why I will always only use Reddit with an ad blocker enabled: Because they have auto-playing ads with sound. I thought we all agreed this was objectively bad 15 years ago and stopped doing it. I distinctly remember that happening.

You know what I fucking hate? Doc sites that bind Cmd + F to search. Don't fucking do that. You know what I want to be able to do? In page searches of your shitty docs. Fucking Stripe...

As an Insta360 X5 user, DJI, release a version of your new camera with user-serviceable lenses. Do that and I'm in. Insta makes the batteries different every model so I have to buy all new accessories. DJI doesn't. Just let me replace the lenses myself.

So, while it's cool that I can use my iPad as a mini display... Hey Apple, let me use touch. It's a touch screen. Do it.

Tailwind doesn't have `grid-area`. How does it not have that. It's one of the most powerful features in Grid. This would be like buying a car and being told it doesn't have seats.

My first official industry job title was "The Admiral of The Internet" and I feel like it's been downhill ever since. This was back in like 2006 and I would remind all of you that while I was Admiral the internet was a much cooler place. Just sayin'. You're welcome.

Me: I should buy a UPS, that'll solve some problems... Amazon: Do you want this UPS? Me: No I already bought one— Amazon: What about this one? Me: No, I'm goo— Amazon: This one? Me: STO— Amazon: This one? How is this still a thing? Like at least say "do you want a slightly longer extension cable?"

I just took (almost) everything out of the 9U server rack I keep all my home office stuff in, installed a new UPS, put it all back and it: 1. Looks cleaner than when I started and, 2. It all worked the first time, I didn't need to redo any of it! 3. It took less than an hour. I feel unstoppable!

Also, LTT has these magnetic cable management kits and they are not cheap but they are worth every damn penny. Strong recommend.

I think one of the worst parts about being a software engineer is dealing with crappy websites and knowing they should be better. Like when someone sends you a code to verify their identity and instead of letting them proceed you endlessly loop them until they give up and sign in manually. FedEx.

In case it wasn't clear that was me taking a dig at FedEx, who might have the worst website in package delivery. I don't know, the competition is really stiff on that one. Oddly the best one still is the USPS. Thank god we're funding them proper—What do you mean we're cutting their funding again?

Huh, this component wasn't built with flexible content in mind… …And it's Tailwind so I can't just use CSS to target it from a parent… …And the component doesn't accept arbitrary classes… …I'm going to have refactor the whole fucking thing. #TailwindStillSucks

I'm trying to figure out how to do something so I asked if anyone else has done it. I've gotten a couple dozen responses and all of them fall into one of these categories: 1. You're asking in the wrong place. 2. It's easy, just do it. 3. Never tried it. Thanks, guys. Super helpful.
