This is spot on. If there’s one thing that Hegseth, Vance, and Miller share, it’s that they seem to be walking around absolutely furious all day long every day.

The popularity of dystopian fiction a few years ago was a preview.

We are at a fire alarm fire in the science Infrostructure. It is not just NIH (although NIH may be the worst), the rot is at the USPTO, the rot is at NSF, NEA, and NEH, the rot is at CDC, the rot is at Universities. And when I say to @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social, we need a commission, boy oh boy.

Mark Histed@markhisted.org

This week, NIH advisors rebuked RFK for harming #NIH and US science. Sheryl Gay Stolberg reported it. Then RFK posted calling her sources anonymous or corrupt. I'll say this hoping it does good: I'm an NIH scientist, I'm not anonymous, and RFK Jr is destroying NIH. More in attachment:

Knocked doors in Escondido today for Marni von Wilpert (CA-48), Darshana Patel, and Mara Elliott. 💪 We barely got anyone to answer the door, but left a lot of literature. I heard a rumor that polling shows Marni up by 3. 🤞

So glad we’re in this universe and not the one where she is First Lady of California.

Guilfoyle is about my age and I don’t understand how she is up partying at 4 am. Did she need ice because she woke up in the middle of the night and her back hurt? Maybe the cocaine is her key to staying up.

If this is being leaked to Fox News (which had not published a Guilfoyle story for years) then Guilfoyle is gone this week. www.foxnews.com/politics/tru...

My HVAC emailed this morning to tell me it’s not working (the fact that it was 88 degrees in my house was the first clue), cars are driving by without anyone inside, and AI agents are emailing literary magazines to pitch stories they wrote. We are suddenly living in the weird robot future.

Hello from San Diego, where we are minding our own business while the president invites another nation to destroy us and a room full of our fellow Americans clap and cheer him on. Thanks guys.

In the San Diego Old Town cemetery, there is a grave for this poor guy who was hanged for stealing the only rowboat in San Diego Bay. Then there’s another guy who made “a murderous assault on his wife” and his punishment was he had to ring the church bells when the priest told him to. 🤔

So fuc*ing infuriating and sad. The CDC used to be the crown jewel of the world's scientific firmament. Other countries came to us for help fighting deadly diseases. Its disease detectives learned what caused illness and helped change practices to prevent them. www.nytimes.com/2026/09/26/h...

Evan Barker quit the Democratic Party and voted for Trump. Now she’s telling (a few) stories about what she saw in a new book that mixes gossip and condemnations of ‘woke.’ Her old colleagues aren’t happy.

Anyone who finds themselves developing a plan to possibly put their boss’s name on Ford’s theater needs to take a look in the mirror. What are you doing with your life.

James Downie@jamescdownie.bsky.social

"Administration officials are circulating a list of government sites that could have Trump’s name affixed to them... One landmark that has emerged in the discussions among administration officials has raised eyebrows: Ford’s Theatre, the playhouse where Abraham Lincoln was assassinated in 1865."

Big news: The family of Tierra Walker, who died after she couldn't get an abortion, is suing a slate of Texas actors in state court, including AG Ken Paxton. They say the state ban is unconstitutional. This is the first suit of its kind. 19thnews.org/2026/09/texa...

I’ve been volunteering to help flip CA-48 and replace Darrell Issa with Marni von Wilpert. So far we’ve spent 3 weekend mornings knocking on doors. We have heard a few positive responses, but most people don’t seem to have heard or thought about the race yet. Keeping fingers crossed.

It’s too bad SC is so red because if anybody ought to lose it’s Darline Graham. Most Americans don’t think through every step in their policy preferences, but if you’re one of those Americans you don’t have to run for Senate. She also hasn’t yet learned when to pretend she has something to offer.

Greg Sargent@gregsargent.bsky.social

Darline Graham said that because her own parents died when she was a kid, people today shouldn't expect "government health care." So I dug up the real story of the death of Darline/Lindsey's parents. It makes a strong case FOR government health care. 1/ (new piece) newrepublic.com/article/2148...

This man is a physician and is trying to tell us that it's fine that kids are dying from measles. Penn should revoke his degree.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Dr Oz: "I don't want anyone in America concerned inappropriately. We don't know exactly what happened in PAG yet. We don't know if the children died from measles or had another condition that was already attacking them and they happened to get measles at the same time. We lived this during covid."
