Hello. https://dougaitken.link for all the links.

That wee girl on the Brits at the start of Golden is iconic. Pretty sure @scottygb.bsky.social will have a gif of it soon.

Towards the end of 2025 two things happened: * I had been working on Remote In Tech for ten years as of mid-October * Anthropic released Sonnet 4.5 end of September, then Opus 4.5 towards the end of November

Over the '25/'26 holiday break I knew I had to finally update the Remote In Tech website and as I've been participating more and more in AI enablement, it felt finally time that I could do this. I've been talking about updating the system that generates the website for years.

So, during one evening in January I opened Claude Code, now with Opus 4.5, and just started. You can read more on the blog - remoteintech.company/blog/the-big...

remoteintech.companyThe Big Redesign: A Fresh Look for Remote In TechA list of semi to fully remote-friendly companies in or around tech

I'd thought off and on over the years to make it more robust but my technical skills to do that aside from starting totally fresh were not up to it.

In October I'd started some work on a new system with Sonnet, made some progress then hit a wall about the migration of 800+ profiles and the architecture so left it.

The existing site/project at that point was...fragile and lacking to say the least. A custom build system and design made in 2017/2018, no enhancements or improvements really since then.

I'll possibly be in NYC start of August for a work thing, around 4th and 8th for possible hangs. Who do I still know around there? I'll be around Soho / East Village.

Rarely watch iPlayer but saw this pop up. Really weird watching this, seeing names I recognise from my early time (joined Nov 2007) on that site, seeing things with older eyes. What a time. www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/epis...

I think the BBC version (74mins, one programme) is a cut down version of the @cnn.com version of the same name (trakt.tv/shows/twitte...) going by trailers for that.

Tried the Apple Hearing Test. Interesting experience.

doug.blogTrying the Apple Hearing Test with AirPods Pro 2Without meaning to, earlier I went through the Apple Hearing Test available on iPhones with my a8c anniversary AirPods Pro 2s just over 6 years after my initial diagnosis. They aren't identical test so I am not comparing them like for like but on the surface it is comforting to see that whilst I've thought my hearing is getting worse (and for sure my tinnitus seems worse), seeing the graphs side by side show a lot of different.

That’s my 10 year old into his school World Book Day. He went as @amateuradam.bsky.social (in his prior career outfit of scrubs & lab coat) and hilariously took “Dexter Procter the 10-Year-Old Doctor”. Cheers Adam for entertaining me but also my son with your wit & wisdom.

Tamara goes over it in the post but this one has been a long time coming. It all happened internally, every team at Woo was involved somehow, and I've attended a bunch of external calls with my new waterbottle turned the other way 😂

My 2024 in Viewing AKA how much TV/Movies did I watch? Although I've had an account for a few years, I really leaned into using Trakt.tv as much as possible this year. I wasn't consistent with adding episodes after watching them - i.e. I have a massive spike in August when I marked almost all of…
