1/3 Excellent insightful and moving: “This is the most corrosive effect of liberal neo-eugenics: positing that an individual ideal of embodiment can be specified, quantified and realised, it creates a framework for torturing both our children and ourselves. … www.theguardian.com/news/ng-inte...

theguardian.comWould you pay to have the ‘best baby’? Liberal eugenics and the troubling quest for human perfectionFor decades the idea of eugenics has been taboo. Now it is returning in a new commercial guise

2/3 “Why are we not this perfect thing? Why are we not fitter, happier, more productive? In treating ever more traits and qualities as things to be measured, ranked and diagnosed, we are doing the opposite – turning variation itself into something like disability. …

3/3 “One of the reasons I dislike liberal eugenics is that its individualist ethos runs counter to political measures that have mattered immensely in my lifetime. I believe we should direct our efforts toward making better societies rather than making better people.”

Disgusting and close to corrupt: “38 ministers, senior civil servants and SPADs [took up] positions in AI companies between Jul 2024 and Sept 2026 [while] government departments [did not] engage meaningfully with stakeholders outside the technology industry.” www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026...

Not only is Israel an Apartheid state, but it’s an Apartheid state that committed genocide and is led by politicians who openly advocate ethnic cleansing, including of Palestinian citizens of Israel. Israel is so far worse than ‘just’ an Apartheid state.

Deborah Lipstadt is engaging on a Twitter-brain level of discourse with maps that look like they were made by small children because that’s the only avenue left for anyone who still seriously believe that Israel isn’t an Apartheid state

Imagine thinking that ‘Arabs can vote’ isn’t something that all those lawyers and human rights researchers have taken into consideration.

Douwe Korff reposted

Worth noting that folks like Lipstadt never actually engage with the legal definition of Apartheid. There are multiple extremely well-documented reports produced by Palestinian, international and even Israeli human rights orgs that concluded that Israel is an Apartheid state.

By this logic, Jim Crow in the American South was no big deal, because in other parts of the US at the time, Black Americans could vote. I don’t think someone this well educated and intelligent really believes that.

Palantir’s leaders are on record opposing democracy. They hate the EU because they view it as too democratic (which is saying something). The fact that the EU still decided to make deals with that evil company is damning in itself. The only way forward is away from Palantir and their ilk.

Douwe Korff reposted

There is absolutely no reason to believe anything Palantir says. It is extremely frustrating that all of this shit was predictable, and so many people warned against depending on US tech, and we still got here.
