Queer boi-ish from Buffalo. I'm a producer, composer, & DJ, as well as a full-stack developer. They/them. I bring startups to prod and make outlandish concept albums that intentionally mix-and-match genres, focused around a base of EDM & pop.

And yet, paradoxically, part of knowing what is what, is not knowing what is what. Thus, the inevitable descent into strutting.

First single you bought with your own money. No Lying! (not my pic) @downupright.bsky.social knows what is what.

If people had Jace Fatigue in 2010 (something that I have a bit of a history with- iykyk), I'm checking in from day 2 of reality fracture standard on arena, to report I had my first "six jaces in play at once" game 💪

I just put the finishing touches on the one track for "DONT YOU PUT WORDS IN MY MOUTH" where the backers really forced my hand. I'm very proud of the job I've done naturally folding bizarre words into places they feel natural on this album. This one though... with the words, I had to lean into it.

Not to pat myself on the back but it's days like today I love being a songwriter with diverse tastes. It's fun to not hone in on one sound. I'm switching from the raunchiest, most explicit, sex-on-the-dance-floor track, to a beautiful and pure ballad right now. And I feel both are "me". Fun hobby!

I made a sale on Bandcamp today and it just made my day. Pleased as punch. IDK how many of you understand just how much, for the small indie artists, a little thing like that just turns your whole week around. Never take it for granted :)

If you're launching a new tech startup, you don't need as many NDAs as you think. If taking "your idea" would ruin your startup, it's a bad idea. Good tech startups are based on execution, which isn't stolen via a conversation. Many startups actually come from ideas that enterprises WON'T listen to.

What’s a thing from your area of expertise (or special interest) that you think it would behoove everyone else to know?

When a therapist asked me about my hobbies and I included reading sci-fi and playing Magic: The Gathering, he told me I was just like Sheldon from the Big Bang Theory and then gave me some advice from the show. I will never forgive that show for existing.

A question from Reddit that I'll answer here: "What's the most unhinged thing a doctor has said to you with a straight face?"

Listen. I just beat this literal video game last week, and it's called Pragmata. The single, only difference in the plot is that in real life, Musk would not do anything that involved a child he would care about. #pragmata

Finished some video games in the last few weeks and gonna use this thread to post some 2-sentence reviews of them. Pragmata: 7/10. Genuinely likeable; innovative gameplay I did not tire of. Skipped several steps in character development and too short. Bonus points: incredibly plausible sci-fi plot.

Dungeon Clawler: 9/10. This game has one job and it's to merge the addictiveness of a roguelike with the addictiveness of a claw machine. It does so beautifully, I played it weeks longer than it warranted. Builds are not balanced though.

Currently playing and will not comment on yet: Gears of War Remake for PS5 (have fond memories of the OG we will see if they are holding up) and The King Is Watching for Switch.

Unicorn Overlord: 5/10. Best "RPG Tactics" gameplay for me since maybe Triangle strategy; real depth. Story is 0/10 awful unoriginal, many character models very offensive. Not only culture offensive but offensive to physics. I like big titties! But not two hot air balloons stapled to a woman.

Black Jacket: 8/10. Best "roguelike that follows Balatro" I have played since Balatro and was blown away that it has a plot that sneaks up on you. Gameplay is slow with animations and dialogue that make runs take 3x as long as they have to.

I loathe YouTube Thumbnail Face so much that I've stopped making faces that resemble it in real life now. If something legitimately shocks me or makes me aghast I keep my lips closed and go "hmm". My two eyebrows can no longer move independently. Hands? Nowhere near my face i'll tell ya that much

i think when they say stuff like this, they're carefully selecting for some individual cool shit like a Beethoven's Ninth or a Wright Brothers first flight, and willfully ignoring less salient stuff like "entire populaces without smallpox" or "countries with 98%+ literacy"

"The great achievements of civilization have not come from government bureaus." — Milton Friedman. They were driven by individual liberty and free markets. And they always will be.

Listen, I'm not anti-Universes Beyond. I think they're fun; I do think there's too many right now. I'm just saying when I saw the below image, my first reading of it was that they would be releasing Detroit, Vegas, and Amsterdam themed sets.

Love when I get mail (snail, or email, either) from non-profits being like "Today is your LAST DAY to donate" i am sure it is. i bet. tomorrow i won't be allowed to donate any more

I need one of those crazy German or Finnish or Korean words that don't exist in English, for the following overly specific phrase: "I found the best possible dialogue sample that could ever have existed for this track, and it's public domain"

Darn LLMs are returning results from the future again. Is AI very silly... OR, are Polymarket/Kalshi sitting on some really explosive new technology and it's leaking. (search, if you're curious, was for if Jeffries can get primaried still this year)

apple music needs a toggle for "hey, for whatever reason, i am going to listen to something i normally don't, and I am asking you in advance to NOT abruptly forget my years of consistent listening history in favor of this one thing"

TV has given me unrealistic expectations like I could dice vegetables and they just sit there on the chopping board accepting being diced and not flying up at angles into my eye

recently i've found it enjoyable, when i have to open LinkedIn, to simply audibly say "No" to every headline. like, out loud. "OpenAI just changed the game–" No. "Is the era of the software app ending–" No. "Musk announces humanity might–" No. Just no! It's very satisfying on a gut level!

I think in the 25-ish years of my career, I have watched the software world generally go from 80% "The customer is always right" to 80% "The customer is a mark", and I am at least a little optimistic I will see it go back before I am done.

I love how even modern gabber is still made mostly with drops that have the vibe of "catchphrase that would have been sunglasses-and-bleach-blonde-tips cool" in 2002, two decades later. Like right before the drop some guy is just like "AW YEAH WHO GOT THE PARTY THAT ROCKS THE JOINT!"

Like just after the most gorgeous melody you've heard in your life, a hype guy is like "AIR RAID SIRENS! BIG BEAT BOMBS DROPPIN!" and then you hear 80 kicks that sound like sloppy dog shit

WILLIAM, it looks like you made a large charge on one of your credit cards. Your credit score has gone down. WILLIAM, it looks like you made a credit card payment. Cold outreachers are hell, being in a role where I can select software vendors is hell, I am in hell. While I like the work I do, this is the most miserable my ecosystem has ever been, and I would trade it all for 2015 in a split second.

I'm not a NYC person (western new york state for me) but my understanding is that for each of the four major US sports there's a big, storied team, and an other team. Giants/Jets, Knicks/Nets, Yankees/Mets, Rangers/Islanders. My question is what is the ideal fandom subset. There are 16 permutations

I'm really enjoying the new Ed O'Brien album, like a lot. It's interesting to see how he songwrites on his own since he was most notable as being "weird sound guy" in Radiohead. Also, I like non invasive music for working, and it's easy to code to.

Watched the recently released "Buffet Infinity" on VOD last night. It's a surreal horror film made entirely out of local advertisements. Very cool and extremely up my alley, good execution too, beyond the gimmick. Still thinking about it today.
