I often tell myself "this time, I'm going to skip fast travel". But then I run in to quests that expect you to warp half way across the map and back a dozen times and I give up. Are there games like Oblivion that don't have free fast travel and don't have quests that assume you'll fast travel?

The @nytimes.com cares about Maria Bartiromo quitting (or being fired, I don't know) a lot more than anyone ought to be, weirdos sending push notifications over it

Murray is such a crybaby (at the vet to get his ears and eye checked out, and it's just about the worst thing ever)

Shocking fact! Our boy here has never once eaten. He's so hungry and he doesn't even know what food is like.

I don't have much vocal range so I thought I'd speak-"sing" Cake's The Distance at karaoke. I forgot how many words this song has, it was probably a mistake. (No slight on Cake, it's just that it is very speakable for laymen such as myself)

Nothing quite beats the feeling of seeing it rain *before* you go outside to water the plants

We disturbed Murray a little, but not enough get him to move. So we needed to make the bed around him.

Where do y'all go to find good upcoming board games/card games on Kickstarter? Reddit/FB groups are out for obvious reasons. Are there trustworthy Discord servers or old school forums?

imagine being a rich person, feeling empty, always, every day, and the only thing you love or want is money. and you get and spend as much money as you can and you still feel nothing. and everyone who looks at you knows you're empty. you can feel their eyes accusing you. and they're all right

Finally saw Friendship last night -- the bit where Tim Robinson's son was playing a flight sim while on the phone killed

Moonlighter is such a cozy game for me, perfect for a handheld system. 2 will be a day one buy.

if i'm being honest, i knew all along that eating a whole pizza for lunch was a mistake

Saw a "wild" fancybird yesterday -- some folks released them or lost them a long time ago and I guess they're thriving. Also, I have a confession: I thought they were like chickens, basically flightless, however we spotted them in trees. TIL.

"Looking forward" to the upcoming New York Times piece lamenting the money spent complying with court orders to remove illegal Trump signage

I'm a firm adherent of the "out of sight out of mind" philosophy of life. Also I forgot my backpack at a restaurant, damn it.

Murray and Frankie taking turns in the Costco box -- best day ever

In retrospect, it was a bad idea to convince JD Vance that he had to apologize for being white

that moment when you realize the first two bands aren't *openers* but are actually doing full sets i am so fuckin old

I found myself nodding along at this. Especially the part about the anti-alarmists not having strong values and how they treat everything as a game, even going so far as to use the term NPC to describe anyone that does not look, think, and move like them.

I need a book curation site ala Goodreads that offers a way to filter by ratio of comma to period (and/or the word "and" to period). A high ratio makes the book incredibly hard to read, IME. I constantly have to read each sentence forward and backward to see if I understood everything.

The Final Fantasy IV pixel remaster is such a nostalgia bomb. The updated music is perfect, right in the feels.

I think Indivisible's messaging is unclear in general. Asking us to contact our do-nothing, do-wrong representatives redirects energy away from the plan to primary those representatives, IMO. As the kids say, make it make sense.

A world in which this regime can kill anyone it chooses with no legal justification of any kind is a world in which none of us are safe. Tell your Members of Congress to demand investigations into Pete Hegseth’s murderous strikes in the Caribbean and Pacific.

I might sound entitled here but when I go to a store and see what basic stuff I need behind glass (extension cords in this case) I am outta there. I don't want to have to beg to buy something. It's like these stores don't want customers.

If they're going to lock things up, they might as well turn the store in to a ton of vending machines. At least that way I can get what I want to buy and leave without having to call someone.
