This is what I find so unsettling: waiting until it mounts to a more extreme level is when it’s going to be too late. We should be responding to any little hint of #fascism as it arises. As time passes, more power will be accrued and the worst-case scenario will only become more likely…

Whether or not it was intentional is sort of beside the point. If I were to make a gesture like this "by accident" in the classroom, I would still be held accountable. In part because I'm white, in part because I'm in a position of authority. Musk should know better. We should all know better...

apnews.comMusk's straight-arm gesture embraced by right-wing extremists regardless of what he meantMany social media users noticed that the gesture looked like a Nazi salute. Musk has only fanned the flames of suspicion by not explicitly denying those claims.

Good old right-wing family values… Interestingly, according to numerous psychological studies, it’s liberals and Democrats who have more communal values. Conservatives and Republicans, in contrast, are driven more by power, self-reliance, and independence…

The current resurgence in toxic masculinity is difficult to endure, but it won’t last forever. It is by definition volatile and therefore unsustainable—self-destructive even—and terribly unpopular amongst the rest of us…

There are conspiracy theories, and then there are real conspiracies… What baffles me is that the conspiracy theorists never care about the real conspiracies (and in fact deny climate change).

I would like to introduce the Bluesky community to Hunter! Hunter (nicknames: Hunty, Hunter Bunter, Little Monkey, Handsome Boy) is a rescue from Mexico. He’s almost 8 and is the sweetest little guy in the world… 🐾 #prouddogdad

“We are all one – and if we don’t know it, we will learn it the hard way.” This quote by civil rights activist Bayard Rustin describes our current predicament so well. Everything we're up against comes down to this single problem: we're either in this together, or we're not in it... #weareallone

Capitalism has a long relationship with fascism. In motivational terms, it makes a lot of sense: capitalists and fascists are both motivated by power, displaying what is referred to as unmitigated agency—the pursuit of individual power at the expense of communal values and concerns (like empathy).

Sums it up well…

Its amazing Zuck isnt the slightest bit embarrassed about how weak he’s revealed himself to be. He’s one of the richest people in the world with a giant comms platform but at the first hint of confrontation with a bully he puts his tail between his legs. What a weak boy. www.cnbc.com/2025/01/10/r...
