Dear recent followers: if your timeline is nothing but reposts of politics memes and news stories, I won't be following you back even if I agree with you 100%. It's nothing personal - just like your timeline.

I'm finishing up my ballot homework today, and while a bunch of it was easy, there are 70 separate items for me to vote on - many of which, while they're actually important locally, are fiendishly hard to get good information on. I submit that this is actually bad for democracy.

Without arrogance or false modesty, I'd grade myself fairly high on "diligent research" and "ethically motivated" - so if _I_ want to give up and either leave items blank or vote for city council members at random, how is everybody else doing? Not well, I suspect!

This means that the median voter will make their decision almost entirely based on TV ads and lawn signs - which, of course, means that money is vitally important. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that this is Bad, Actually!

Pretty sure I know about five of them. Nice guys all of them, too.

The DOJ’s attorney couldn’t say who helped build the list. Judge Gabriel Sanchez, a Biden appointee, asked why it flagged 190,000 people in July but only 20,000 now, and how officials could match names to ballots: “I guarantee you there are many Gabriel Sanchezes in the County of Los Angeles.”

Question for the movie folk: "Big Night" and "Good Will Hunting" were both projects developed by a pair of actors trying to kickstart/revitalize their careers. Any other examples - and if there are, did they work? It'd be interesting to make a playlist...

"I should kill you! It's so fucking good, I should kill you!" I quote this every once in a while when a dish is really tasty; since the movie is 30 years old now, I tend to get weird looks.

Somebody on here mentioned grits and I got a Craving. Nothing fancy - I followed the stovetop instructions from the package except I subbed in a Maggi chicken stock cube for the salt and I grated in about half a cup of pepper jack - but dag nab is it good.

Little Johnny is in sex ed class and he's very confused, so he raises his hand. "Teacher - aren't the testes and the prostate the same thing?" "No, Johnny. There's a vas deferens between them."

"Now, my assistant Lobo will come around carrying a sack in his mouth to collect your tickets for the silent auction... no, don't run away! Come back, everyone - who's afraid of the bid bag wolf?"

First single(album) you bought with your own money. No lying. Mine's a twofer: the very first time I had any money, I hitchhiked into Napa and bought tickets to Pink Floyd at Oakland Coliseum, plus the album they were touring on and The Wall because I missed listening to my big sister's record.

I bought my lenses at EZContacts, and while I do love them, their marketers are nuts. Within a day of my order arriving, they sent "It's time to refill!" messages. For the last three days, it's been "LAST CHANCE for 15% off lenses!" - followed by this morning's text:

I actually do love them* - great prices, excellent products, good service the one time I needed it - but be prepared for comedy once you're on their mailing list. *not affiliated, just a customer
