Someone ran a poll on X, asking players if they would prefer "all games on Steam made by humans" or "all games on Epic made by AI". 139,568 people voted, with just 1.6% voting for AI and Epic. Faith in humanity restored!

A HUGE Game UI Database update is looming on the horizon, which comes with an 'avalanche' of new features. Some game-changing, some completely pointless. Here's a pointless game-changer:

Weekend done, time to hang it up. Many rough edges, but I'm still having fun. Going to completely rewrite the weapon grab mechanic. It's surprising how enjoyable an NPC with a basic (random attack + walk direction) type brain can be. Oh. I added an 808 kick to the Kill Confirm. #CherubDev #UE5

πŸ₯± We all know how Halo changed FPS controls on console... But why do we never talk about which game did the same thing for THIRD PERSON games? I have my theory about who got there first, but if you think there was another, let me know in the replies!

Had that same question some time ago and found that 40 Winks for the PS1, had modern camera controls in 1999. But I can't remember if they were inverted or not... bsky.app/profile/tuba...

Trying to find the earliest use of the right analog stick for camera control in a third person game and the oldest game I could find was 40 Winks for the PS1. A 1999 3D platformer, very similar to Mario 64 in structure, developed by Eurocom. Is there any game older than this that did that?

Six months of Super Nintendo! And it's my birthday this week! This book is the culmination of 20 years' work as a games journalist - all the time I've spent interviewing Nintendo creatives and thinking deeply about games and the place they occupy in our lives. Pick up a copy linktr.ee/super_nintendo
