Packing for a trip and looking for my EU power adapter and found the card my nephew’s hockey team sent after my Mom passed because they couldn’t attend in person. We could use a lot more of whatever the coaches and families of those kids have taught them about community in the world.

Very normal trade negotiation tactics are “election interference” when Canada does them but explicitly endorsing specific candidates during election periods in Israel, Hungary, Japan etc apparently is not election interference when the US president does it. www.cbc.ca/news/politic...

Getting my flu and Covid shots tomorrow. Reviews I’ve heard is that they’re extra spicy this year (ie expect to be sore). Anyone else have that experience?

Dude on his phone in his lifted truck blew by me in a crosswalk on Waterfront drive without even slowing down. Fortunately I could see he wasn’t looking at me so I paused while he drove by. I’d love to see cracking down on that behaviour in a mayoral platform.

A great day for a run (finishing headwind notwithstanding). Thanks to all the organizers, sponsors and volunteers! Also 21.21km should be the real half marathon distance

Started using corporate speak with my cat. Like when he cries for bedtime treats I say “thank you for bringing this issue to my attention. I understand your concern. I will reply within 5 business days.”

Once again my vote is available to any municipal candidate whose platform includes “working with the province to phase out the useless and irritating back-up beep on heavy vehicles in favour of the much safer and less annoying white noise reverse alarm”

Wherein the Free Press assigns property rights on a whim. The Granite does not own the parking lot. This is lazy at best and certainly misleading.

The Granite Curling Club has filed a new court action asking a judge to review and quash City of Winnipeg decisions on a controversial project that would construct a 110-unit housing complex on its parking lot — and to issue an injunction stopping work for now.

Gym bruh walks into the sauna with his phone playing his workout mix. No headphones. It is literally like DJ Kristine’s Saturday night mix from Happenings in 1999. He can’t be old enough to have been alive in 1999. BF starts singing along and I ask how he found my Spotify 90s gay bar playlist.

Baking dilemma. First, Extra pie dough and apples. Okay apple turnovers. Now Extra pumpkin pie custard. Umm mini graham cracker custard cups? I am going to have double the baking I set out to do today.

Day trip to Brandon and stopped in Carberry (my Dad’s home town) on the way back. My aunt Annette owned this house in the 70s/80s/90s and I remember watching the centennial parade from the second floor balcony.

My toxic trait is deleting the word “individuals” whenever I come across it and replacing it with: people residents workers students Or many other options

Going to see my cousin Ken in Brandon this week and going through old photos to take with me (he’s in the yellow shirt and plaid pants). Man the 70s were a vibe.

Any candidate whose platform includes working with the province to replace the annoying and not very safe back up beep with the much safer and less annoying white noise reverse alarm will get a serious look from me.

One of the great joys of cottage downtime has been having time to bake again. These brown butter chocolate chip cookies have become a favourite in our house.

Participated in the satellite edition of the reconciliation run today. It was a very thoughtfully curated route with stops for reflection along the way. Good way to spend the morning with so many friends.

My new favourite lake breakfast - corn tortillas, sautéed onion, chiles, peppers, tomato, two runny eggs, little lime, hot sauce, avocado or cheese. I could eat that every day I think.

Economics lesson: Big dog has a habit of stealing sticks from our smaller dog. Little dog cried at first but realized there are many sticks in the yard. utility of other sticks is basically identical & they are abundant. Little dog now avoids high price & friction of fighting big dog for sticks.

Cat has lately taken to aggressively assaulting his scratchy board at 4am. BF asked if I considered hiding it from him overnight. I said I feared if it became unavailable he would simply substitute with worse crimes.

I’ve lived in a condo for 25 years and one of the facts of life is getting weekly emails like: “Please stop mixing compost and recycling!!!!!” “Don’t park in front of the side door even for 2 minutes!!!” Have those kinds of emails ever solved a problem of that nature?
