We are totally in hell. I’ve gone totally in-class writing this semester and it’s been great. But . . . I only have 35 students. I can manage it. Next semester will be over 100. I have no fucking clue what I’m going to do.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: There’s a difference between being divided and BEING divided.
When Ukraine destroys Russian data centers, hoards of aggressive right-wing bots disappear & the internet becomes friendlier. So much of politics is driven by the internet & so much of the internet is driven by Russians who want to hurt us. Shouldn’t we do something about that, given that we know it
The trees in the news today make me feel like my body is being torn apart limb by limb. This is one.
To put this in perspective chestnut trees used to be dominant species in the United States. Billions of trees were killed by fungal blight and now fully grown America chestnuts are functionally extinct. There is no getting them back. Ever. All for a data center. www.gadgetreview.com/one-of-ameri...

Big gratitude to these student journalists, who are largely responsible for turning this into a national conversation. You are doing great work.
3. The Cornell Daily Sun! Need I say more? These fierce, courageous journalists -and Jane Doe herself- are heroes. www.cornellsun.com/page/donate May the students who graduate this year not find themselves 35 years later, as I do, feeling that nothing has changed. /end
“Sir, I’m already hot.”
They open these boondoggle centers and then they come to us, the hot people, to help make them hot. Come teach a class! Be edgy! Be heterodox! For half a faculty line, no prestige, and no extra money. Sir, I’m already hot. Students want to take my classes. Why would I go to the weird guy cabal??
