🏴 Today I finished Anarchism and Other Essays by Emma Goldman. A great straightforward read. While I fel that some entries were not quite flushed out, and the final essay on dramas was a tad repetitive, I would recommend this text to anyone interested in radical literature.

🇺🇦 A reason many people think that more pressure should be applied on Ukraine to acquiesce to Russia is that they implicitly or explicitly believe it is easier to force the smaller and nominally weaker state to submit rather than try and force the larger power to stop.

Went into this with zero idea of what I was going to hear. While not my favorite album of the year, I've literally never heard anything like this. Will likely be in my top 10 for 2026. #metalsky #metal

🇺🇦🇺🇦 Ukrainian/Ukrainian speaking friends! Help this poor stupid American further his education in the glorious Ukrainian language! Is choosing to use the preposition в versus preposition у for "in" really just based on vibes, or is there an actual rule? Дякую!

🇪🇪 Yesterday, I finished rereading Pobeda 1946 by Ilmar Taska. Unfortunately, while this was one of my favorite novels after initially reading it, I find it now doesn't quite hold up. It is at times a bit too on the nose and is lacking subtlety and nuance.

Now that I've gone through the big 4 thrash bands, here is my ranking (1/4) 1. Metallica - yea they're the best. Though, a bit overrated. Like Master of Puppets is a good album, but not the GOAT. They have some great highs though - Kthulu, For Whom..., Blackened.

3. Slayer - If Tom's vocals weren't so annoying, they'd probably be #2. While Reign in Blood is a touch overrated, Hell Awaits and Seasons ripped. Okay bass and being a touch one-note brought them down a rating (along with the vocals).

4. Megadeth - Yea, they just didnt do much for me. Like yea great solos, riffs, and bass, but man those vocals killed me, especially the spoken word. I was expecting a band that would be heavy as shit, but weren't. And they needed to be. Rust is good though!

2. Anthrax - The metal community fell for the chud propaganda that these guys are the worst major thrash band. Great riffs, bass work, and impressive vocals. They were also heavier than I was expecting. While some albums were juat okay, Persistence and Among... were sooo good.

Finished listening the main 4 albums from Anthrax the other day. I have to say that they are hella underrated. Persistence of Time and Among the Living were tremendous. I can definitely see why you either love them or hate them though.

A really cool episode of The Caucasus Digest from @ocmedia.bsky.social that discusses on how they decide on vocabulary to use when covering conflicts/contested borders. An insightful point is made about how certain words can affect journalists they cooperate with.

Fraternities and Greek life on US College campuses are antithetical to all positive movements in society. They foster and promote the absolute worst in humanity whether that is classism, racism, and as we've seen this week, for the infinite time, violent misogyny.
