My theory is that the Disc Press is for cloning Discs. I'm sure this is what others are thinking too. If Disc 5 is as important as some think for opening the Sift Portal, being able to have extras (in case one gets lost) would be very important!

Here's some other random "custom blocks" I made using leaves/roots and cushions. It's wild you can just do this if you wanted (and it's not that difficult) #Minecraft

The challenge is more around how to deal with very large mobs in the blocky world. Also, these days we try to keep the correct pixel ratio on textures, and not only scale up or down mobs. (Still working on that, though.)

In the new snapshot we can use brown cushions inside of leaves to make dirt blocks with various levels of grass for dithering on paths! Yay NEW BLOCKS! #Minecraft #MinecraftBuilds

Redstone is obviously known for contraptions, but it also has properties in magic (consider brewing). Its magical connection has largely been left aside (though I guess Lapis has also been used since). Regardless, I think Redstone could be expanded in the magical direction somehow, even with Lapis.
