www.nytimes.com/2026/09/16/u... First they write, “Trump wanted Canada so entwined with the United States that he even set out to make it the 51st state” Later they state, “But Mr. Trump’s fixation with Canada is mainly rooted in trade and economics, not territory or politics.” Well, which is it!

nytimes.comTrump Wanted Canada as the 51st State. He Ended Up Pushing It Toward the European Union. The invitation by the E.U. for Canada to become an “associate member” is a sign of Mr. Trump’s brand of diplomacy, which often involves threatening America’s closest friends.

Oh Susan, please fuck off. If Carney doesn’t do a deal with Europe Canada has no leverage and Trump just continues his trade war. For Canadians unfamiliar with Sen Collins, she excels at pretending to consider moderate stances but always votes with the right. www.cbc.ca/news/politic...

I know this article had a byline with a human name. But given the poor quality the writing, it might as well have been written by AI as it’s just a bunch of rambling factoids about Yiannopoulos that has no flow and virtually no reporting. www.cnn.com/2026/08/28/u...

The loss was not stunning, it was .1%, nor does it demonstrate the limits of the left. An incredible amount of editorializing in the headline which was called out by the readers in the comments. A Stunning Loss in Wisconsin Shows the Limits of the Left www.nytimes.com/2026/08/12/u...

We don’t care what Scott thinks. He is not an expert on young men, he is not an expert on healthcare and he also isn’t an expert on AI. He is just an MBA who likes to pass as an academic who got lucky and now has a microphone Why Scott Galloway Is an A.I. Optimist www.nytimes.com/video/opinio...

nytimes.comVideo: Opinion | Why Scott Galloway Is an A.I. OptimistThe A.I. economy will create a job boom, not an apocalypse, argues Scott Galloway. Will that lead to a renaissance of meaning for young men? The columnist Ross Douthat, the host of “Interesting Times,...

Linda Qiu. If I say “hello” 9 days out of 10, and on the 10th day I cut off your pinky because I didn’t like what you said, people would say I was violent person. But you would say I was usually polite. Trump Justifies Money Made as President With Inaccurate Claims www.nytimes.com/2026/07/11/u...

nytimes.comTrump Justifies $2 Billion Made as President With Inaccurate ClaimsPresident Trump has wrongly attributed the $2 billion windfall he gained during his second term to a hot stock market and claimed that he was the only president to donate his salary.

I’m investing in companies that make those “blue books” we used to use when we took tests the old fashioned way, in the lecture hall, by hand with a pen or pencil. I see upside in that and no2 pencils

For those outside academia who are curious: as someone who has taught for ~25 years, many of us now face an existential crisis in assessing student work. Anything you haven't viewed a student actually writing down with their own hand is basically suspect; it's a shitty feeling, to put it bluntly

Life comes full circle. Donny as an adult and no one wants to talk to him because he’s an 80 year old asshole who stinks and just shit in his pants. Now imagine it’s Donny in the second grade and no one wants to talk to him because he’s an 8 year old asshole who stinks and just shit in his pants.

I just received a LinkedIn Ad/message from someone who called them selves Dev DesAI. Really?! Did they think that was: A) Clever or B) just a way to make me want to tell them to fuck off if that was the best they could do. Correct answer is of course, B

Next up, 3 and 5 year economic plans including what crops to plant. Welcome to the U.S.S.A.

We found 12 completely ignorant Trump voters who are “shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on in here” Ok. “ignorant Trump voters” is redundant. But you get the point. ‘Disappointed,’ ‘Surprised,’ ‘Betrayed’: 12 Trump Voters on What Has Gone Wrong www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

“surely this speech from Trump will focus on reassuring and calming the nation” Given Trump has never given a speech that has even attempted to calm the nation, in fact he consistently does the opposite, @clarajeffery.bsky.social demonstrates a clear lack of critical thinking as a “journalist”.

Clara Jeffery@clarajeffery.bsky.social

I doubt the Secret Service or the White House knows much more than we do and so surely this speech from Trump will focus on reassuring and calming the nation...

If someone uses a mouse study or even a 20 person trial to make their point to prove broad causality in humans, they are gaslighting you. They are trying to distort reality by treating likely meaningless data as evidence. It is either a sign more research is needed or their claim is flat out wrong.

Trump is obviously playing some kind of 4 dimensional chess match that only a genius as grand and great as Wile E Coyote, who was in fact a super genius, could understand. Yes, that’s it. That’s definitely what’s going on.

Timothy Snyder@timothysnyder.bsky.social

This is interesting. But it is more interesting that Trump is rewarding Moscow for doing this by helping Russia sell oil, repeating Russian propaganda points, and senselessly burning through weapon stocks. www.washingtonpost.com/national-sec...

This is not “terrible timing”. This is “incompetence yet again”.

Jon Cooper@joncooper-us.bsky.social

TERRIBLE TIMING: When FBI Director Kash Patel fired a dozen FBI agents and staff last week for their role in the classified documents investigation of Donald Trump, he targeted an elite counter espionage unit that investigates threats from foreign adversaries and specializes in Iran.

Some of us need to learn to accept (myself included) that we live on a timeline where a significant number of people think this guy is smart — ha ha, he owned that NBC reporter, ha ha.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Hegseth: "It's the typical NBC gotcha-type question. President Trump has all the latitude in the world to talk about how long it may or may not take. 4 weeks, 2 weeks, 6 weeks. It could move up, it could move back. We're gonna execute at his command ... Joe Biden didn't even know what he was doing"

YES TO THIS!!! But then again every conservative columnist at the NYtimes would be well below the Mendoza line

When Shaq went to the free throw line his stats were shown so I knew to expect him to miss half the time. It would be helpful if newspapers would put the historical accuracy of claims made by their columnists next to the headlines.

Joe Rogan is the Susan Collins of podcasting and Collins is the Lucy Van Pelt of the Senate. He will never “get it” and just when you think he will, he will find a different and yet unnamed conspiracy theory to pursue. The football will always get pulled away at the last second.

The Tennessee Holler @thetnholler.bsky.social

ROGAN: “It’s overwhelming me. Too much fucking madness. We’re about to go to war with Iran. What are these files? How far does this go? What is happening?” Wait til joe rogan finds out he helped get Trump elected 🤷🏼

2 of the 3 votes against ending tariffs in the Supreme Court were from justices nominated by Pappy Bush and his son. It’s time for never Trumper’s to accept the cancer in the GOP started long before Trump became president. There’s been a problem with their political philosophy for a long time.

Steve Vladeck@stevevladeck.bsky.social

The extent to which Justice Kavanaugh has become the most reliable third vote for the Trump administration says quite a lot about both him and the other three candidates.

Alabama's maternal health stats are akin to those of Venezuela or Colombia. California's stats are closer to those of Sweden or The Netherlands. And this reflects sharply on quality of life.

Per the NYTimes regarding the Melania movie, “Was this all just an attempt for Amazon to ingratiate itself with President Trump?” Was it? It stinks as much as a powder room with a backed up septic system. But, let’s pontificate on the obvious now for another 1000 words.

I carry my passport in my backpack all the time because I travel frequently internationally and found it was just easier to keep it in my backpack than put it in a drawer. But now it looks like I will also need it in my pocket just to walk the streets of NYC. Is this what the GOP call freedom?

On behalf of the 51% of Americans who don’t think that MPLS under siege, slowing jobs, rising food costs, threat of foreign wars (by our Pres.), rising measles cases, exit of intellectual capital, etc makes us worse off, I am looking for surgeons who can help remove people’s heads from their asses.
