What happens when a young entrepreneur gets the right support at the right time? Meet 2019 Angolan Tony Elumelu entrepreneur Ribeiro Tenguna, founder of Kussumba Marketplace, a platform helping businesses and consumers connect in Angola’s growing digital economy. 🇦🇴 #TEFAlumniSpotlight

Ribeiro continues to push boundaries. In 2024, he launched Alívio, a crowdfunding platform designed to support social, creative, and entrepreneurial projects, creating even more opportunities for innovators across Angola.

His innovation soon gained international recognition. In 2020, Kussumba Marketplace was selected among Africa’s most promising startups through the Challenge des 1000 initiative, supported by Digital Africa and the French Development Agency. Ribeiro continues to push boundaries.

But the story doesn't stop there. As the business grew, Ribeiro expanded Kussumba’s offerings, exploring digital payment solutions through initiatives like Kussumba Pay, helping make online transactions more accessible for businesses and customers.

The impact has been remarkable. Since receiving support from The Tony Elumelu Foundation, Kussumba Marketplace has: ✅ Empowered over 2,300 vendors ✅ Created 16 jobs ✅ Generated approximately 24 million Angolan Kwanza in annual revenue This is the multiplier effect of entrepreneurship. 🚀

Like many entrepreneurs, Ribeiro had the vision. What he needed was the support to scale. In 2019, he joined the Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Programme, receiving US$5,000 in seed capital, business training, mentorship, and access to Africa’s largest entrepreneurial network.

In 2017, Ribeiro launched Kussumba Marketplace (formerly Makuta Marketplace) to solve a major challenge for SMEs: limited access to online markets. His vision? Build a digital marketplace where entrepreneurs can easily sell products, services, courses, software, e-books, and more.
