@ezraklein.bsky.social talking sense about the purpose of government and the problems with our source code. Our government should work for the people. And we should rewrite and revise the code until it does. youtube.com/watch?v=NcZx...

Such a profound insight here. The problem I see and don't know how to overcome is this: Anchoring can only take place in bed able to accept it. The presence of surviving evolved narrative memes poisons the ground for a truer, grounded view of our evolutionary place in a sea of energy gradients.
The deeper that we anchor understanding in the fundamental and the general, the more robust our narratives can be. It's easier to turn and face the strange when we can say, "This is another verse in one long song that has been going for as long as we can sense into prehistory."
A short synthesis of where we are and where we could go. #trump2.0 #broligarchy #digitalage #globalorder #digitalgovernance #humanflourishing #strartwithwhy open.substack.com/pub/drrevolu...
This is a fantastic interview. If you’re the sort of person who wants to understand what the hell is going on, you should listen. Our governance structures are a function of our technological age. The question is how can we craft a governance system purposed on flourishing in the digital age?
Turchin has some interesting things to say about our revolutionary moment. The wealth pump is responsible for our predicament. My take: The grifters will only accelerate this problem. There will be a time for a new New Deal post Trump. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/t...

READ Danielle Sassoon's letter to AG Pam Bondi, via @nytimes.com: "Rather than be rewarded, Adams's advocacy should be called out for what it is: an improper offer of immigration enforcement assistance in exchange for a dismissal of his case." static01.nyt.com/newsgraphics...

I am hopeful that what comes out of this is a new, more accurate perspective of what it means to be human—one node of processing in a vast, moving sea of information. There is no ego there, yet there is agency along with an acknowledgement that making the world better makes your world better.
#movefastandbreakpeople They don’t care as long as their ideology gets served. Real men protect and help people.
The Trump-Elon funding freeze has been a disaster for people enrolled in clinical trials: "... leaving people around the world with experimental drugs and medical products in their bodies, cut off from the researchers who were monitoring them, and generating waves of suspicion and fear."
This is why the multi-lateral must also be mighty and able to wield both soft and hard power. It is sad, but there are many out there who willfully harm and take if it means they have more. We must be strong enough to deter or defeat them.
This is the peril of allowing weapons of mass destruction to exist. Sooner or later, men like Trump and Putin realize they don't want to use them for deterrence. They want to use them to do whatever the hell they want. Multilateralism cannot co-exist with Might-Makes-Right. We need to choose.
It has always been and will always be much easier to destroy than to build. Keep fighting, keep building. The work we do will be felt by our children’s children’s children, but not if we give up.
The HACER scholarship program has been around 40 YEARS and Blum/Trump took it down in less than 30 days. What we build and win takes generations of work. They’re destroying it overnight.
Perfection demands a perfectly static universe. But stasis is death and the universe is alive. Not only is perfection perfectly unattainable, it is murderous to growth, change, resilience. Harmony is, instead, what we should be striving for. Are the markets in harmony with humans, the planet?
"human constructs, including #markets, are #imperfect in one way or another; perfection is beyond our reach." #Soros #SharedFacts #HumanReasoning

Trump’s latest executive order is an appalling attack on transgender and non-binary kids. Gender-affirming care is age-appropriate, medically necessary, and backed by every major medical association representing over 1.3 million U.S. doctors.
Wonderful thread here. Thanks for sharing @scottsantens.com! ⬆️ POC Entrepreneurs ⬆️ Meaningful Work ⬇️ Domestic violence No decrease in employment except for those learning or caring for others. Really stunning results when you drill down.
This is a thread about the results of Sam Altman's OpenResearch US (ORUS) basic income pilot that many UBI opponents claim to show UBI doesn't work. The results were actually really interesting but the op-eds and social media hot takes about them are full of lies of omission and lack of context. 🧵
It is a worthy life project to question each label. My hope is you do this and finally understand that you are nothing other than the witness of the unfolding of one miniscule corner of the universe. There is freedom there.
The moment we are born, we are given labels—starting with our very name. As life goes on, the labeling continues endlessly. None of these labels define our true identity. These labels are fleeting, temporary constructs of the material world, unable to capture the eternal essence of who we truly are.
