For my economist friends -- @americanprogress.bsky.social is hiring. A bonus: You get to work with an outstanding editorial director!

Bobby Kogan@bbkogan.bsky.social

Hello, EconSky! We are hiring a lead economist at CAP. My DMs are open if you want to talk through the position and CAP generally. Crucially, we are right next to a great bubble tea spot. www.americanprogress.org/job/senior-f...

A Statement from Jessica Heppen, AIR President & CEO: “Like many organizations, the American Institutes for Research (AIR) has had to make difficult decisions in response to recent federal funding cuts, including reducing our workforce by 18%. (1/4)

Just talked with CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corp) about my NSF EDU-funded study on early stereotypes in STEM. With my @airinforms.bsky.social colleagues, the results show the importance of *sustained* and *evidence-based* funded efforts to expand opportunities for girls in tech at early ages.

This headline in the Washington Examiner demonstrates how little people know about what IES and NCES do. Suggesting that the head of NCES was put on leave because of dismal NAEP results is laughable. NCES is a statistical agency. It's job is to report the data as it is. 1/2

Peggy Carr is a hard-working, faithful public servant who has done her job well. But the NAEP scores are not her fault. Do better Washington Examiner. Learn what agencies do before you report on them.

Received a letter from POTUS today purporting to remove me as Commissioner and Chair of the FEC. There's a legal way to replace FEC commissioners-this isn't it. I've been so fortunate to serve the American people and stir up some good trouble along the way. That's not changing anytime soon.

This is probably the greatest moment in @newyorkgiants.bsky.social history. But, did you know: That was the last catch of David Tyree's NFL career? He missed the entire 2008 season with a knee injury and had no catches in 2009 (with the Ravens).

New York Giants@newyorkgiants.bsky.social

17 years ago today, Eli Manning and the Giants took down the Patriots in Super Bowl XLII. 18 wins and 1 Giant loss.

This is correct.

The thing to understand about Trump is like in his first term, he doesn’t want to govern. He doesn’t want to learn. He wants to campaign and look good. Republicans know this. So there are battles going on right now to take control of the actual process of governing.

My colleague @davidimiller.bsky.social with great advice on dissemination and communications. David really understand the power of comms.

Hey #AcademicSky #EduSky! This year, I've thought a lot about the responsible dissemination of research findings. For the end of the year, thought I'd share some reflections on when, why, and how for mass media... [But there's many ways to broadly share findings! This is just one way.] 🧵 [1/16]

A thoughtful and sobering piece from my @airinforms.bsky.social colleague @davidimiller.bsky.social on early STEM stereotypes and the harm they can do.

American Institutes for Research@airinforms.bsky.social

While diverse perspectives on privacy, safety, and ethics are crucial to #tech, the field is overwhelmingly dominated by men. A new study traces this imbalance to #STEM biases in kids as young as six. More in @sciam.bsky.social from lead author AIR's @davidimiller.bsky.social:

Billionaires who have avoided paying taxes for years and then say “we should privatize the government” can — to quote my late mother — take a long walk off a short pier.

This isn't surprising, is it @mcuban.bsky.social? Elon Musk seems to be at war with the very people who would naturally buy his automobiles--those who believe that fossil fuels are a threat to the environment and the future health of our planet (which they are).

John Dick@jdcivicscience.bsky.social

Overall, those with an unfavorable view of Tesla climbed from 26% in January to 38% this week. That's an increase of 46% for the stats geeks out there.

I love this video about challenges that researchers and evaluators can face in collecting data and providing TA in remote areas--and how they overcome those challenges.
