If I ever feel hopeful that we might dislodge our dictator in the US, I then see a climate article like this to remind me that we blew our last chance at survival when we elected him in the first place. How can we possibly stop civilization ending climate change in time?

theguardian.comA catastrophic climate event is upon us. Here is why you’ve heard so little about it | George MonbiotScientists say a crucial Atlantic system is set to collapse. But the billionaire death cult that steers humanity’s destiny just doesn’t do existential crises, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

The story that broke yesterday about the covered-up shooting of Ruben Ray Martinez is not getting enough attention. Someone needs to leak the video that someone told his mom exists. The “investigation” by texas law enforcement is never going to release it.

Attacking “this age of progressive, suicidal empathy” as the enemy reveals a fundamental problem: this isn’t a country with political differences. It’s a country with clashing worldviews. And we need to be more clear-eyed about who holds them. substack.com/@tadstoermer...

I and millions of Americans believe exactly the same thing Kasparov does. Too many troops, too many new prisons, too much money not under Congressional supervision. We're not just witnessing a mass deportation scheme anymore. This is something significantly bigger and scarier.

A “man of letters” who wrote pamphlets and was wealthy enough to publish them is just the old time equivalent of all of us publishing our thoughts online. They deserve no special consideration.

History will look back at the Russian invasion of Crimea in 2014 as the start of WWWIII. Just like WWII, democracies were too hesitant to stand up to the authoritarian. Their weakness was seen and exploited until they were forced into war. We don’t want war, but better to enter on our own terms.

Hegseth calling smoke the “fog of war”… Arrgh how infuriating that such a damn idiot about the military thinks he’s god’s gift to the military. Smoke or fog is literal smoke/fog, not the “fog of war”.

Re: The “men are in a bad place” theme-if you have a traditional “man’s man” mindset then complaining is antithetical to your world view. If you think that mindset is bullshit, then why do you need a new model of masculinity? You are a human and have human problems. The new model should be “human”.

Logical plan this guy suggests. Call mass murders sheep because they’re all following a script. Both the traditional media & individuals on social media need to do a better job of not naming them. Erase them people from history, in the don’t give them attendance sense, & less people will copy them.

theguardian.com‘They’re not wolves – they’re sheep’: the psychiatrist who spent decades meeting and studying lone-actor mass killersPaul E Mullen has had a front-row seat to the men behind some of the worst public massacres. He says it’s possible to ‘disrupt the script’ for future violence

Besides the 2nd generation paragraph noted in the title, another choice statement is that the US’s advantage is not its people but its allies and a reliable currency. So of course Trump screws our allies and wants a yes man as Fed chair. We’ve got a President tailor made to destroy the US.
