I have been doing "extreme" soloing in World of warcraft with my Hunter since 2010. I enjoy wow soloing, so hit me up if you do some ! I have a youtube channel. My style is to solo every single boss : https://www.youtube.com/@DurendilLeHunt

Last thing : what has improved over time is that there seems to be more and more stand-out bosses, but there have been some in every expansion. Or maybe I'm just riding a high after soloing 16 bosses and trying 3-4 others, since quite a few of them were really really good (end)

Note : when I was first soloing wrath, we had pet talents and Intervene - which made planning survival rotations a lot more "complex", since it was a high absorb shield with conditions attached It doesn't change my analysis of boss mechanics, but could help explains why those solos felt more complex

Note that there is a difference in retail : far more complex self-healing, but this thread is about bosses. And of course in raid settings Mythic improved a lot when it comes to group raiding. And I'm intrigued to see if Midnight bosses feel different to solo with the new approach. (5/)

I always thought cataclysm was a "decent" expansion, but this experience really made me realise it might have had a massive impact on the game with its improved boss complexity (not necessarily difficulty). Since, frankly, the quality of raids really matters to player enjoyment and retention. (6/)

And, most importantly, they felt like current bosses. Seriously, it feels like I'm soloing in retail, unlike Wrath where I thought "it just felt better at the time". They are as complex from a strategy conception/execution point of view as TWW or DF bosses. Same with Wotlk and Legion, in remix (3/)

(an exception is to be made of undermine, which is just the best designed raid ever - flavor, music, bosses and mechanics). Anyways, does anyone know what changed between Wrath and Cataclysm ? And how was the jump so big I don't really feel a difference with retail ? (4/)

It really feels like fight design got a massive step up in Cataclysm. Sure, I'm talking from a solo perspective, but in solo you realise how bosses work. Wrath fights felt straightforward. On Cata bosses I could really try 5 different strats, make tons of small adjustments to optimise... (2/)

Stix enrage in Normal : 10min20 Stix enrage in Heroic : 8min00 Stix enrage in Mythic : 6min30 ....This boss is frustrating, every time I figure out how to survive the bombs he just enrages and slaps me.

I had this strat where I stay on the ball while everything explodes so I take 75% less damage, but now if I lose 22 seconds of dps I won't meet enrage. I'll go farm Mythic weapons + voidcores for my 3rd spec next week.

Well, seems soloing is over for now - for me at least. Before the prepatch, this has been the further we have gone in a season 3 - as soloers, we went as far as we did in the previous season 4, which was clearing the first two raid in normal. However, we also cleared Nerub'ar in Heroic in 11.2.

And, the greatest novelty of pre-patch, manaforge omega has been solo'd 7/8. But Dimensius is sadly a "bad" boss to solo. We can avoid devour, but nothing can avoid his reverse gravity. Therefore, the strat will be to overgear and zerg him - no fun or challenge :(

Next expansion the last bosses of Undermine HC should fall quickly. But we'll need a lot of gear to zerg Fyrakk/Dimensius - depending on power creep. For Nerub'ar and UC Mythic, we'll also need at least Mythic gear. So we'll progress manaforge Heroic first. See you there !

Then prepatch hit, and we solo'd a ridiculous amount of bosses. Let's talk about surviving bosses : - Fyrakk Mythic, due to the healing and dps requirements of phase 2. You need to heal up adds and interrupt/kill the screaming souls. Or zerg him before the tree dies. Jailer was killed in S4 of DF

As I said Nerub'ar Heroic has been fully cleared in 11.2. Mythic is impossible right now. Undermine Normal was cleared in 11.2, and with prepatch all HC bosses were solo'd except Stix. This is due to an 8-minute enrage, versus 10min20 in normal. I haven't solo'd Gallywix HC myself, too much damage.
