Short sleepers, who make up less than one per cent of the population, spend significantly less than eight hours snoozing without any apparent health consequences. What can these rare individuals teach us about our relationship with rest? newyorkermag.visitlink.me/WQhwQk

Read this if you are into Alzheimer's disease. It will help reframe your mind.

I'm starting a thread on misunderstandings about the role of APOE in Alzheimer's disease / dementia, from the POV of epidemiology / statistical genetics. I will add to this sporadically over time... #endalz #episky #medsky

This comes up all the time. Great idea, I hope this is implemented widely.

Know anyone diagnosed with Alzheimer's? So challenging for him/her & the family. @alzassociation.bsky.social just put out this great app for these folks- to connect them w/resources & to help them navigate this hard time. Please spread the word about this app. #endalz www.alz.org/news/2025/mo...

"Unless these journals change dramatically, we are going to stop NIH scientists from publishing there, and we're going to create our own journals... They're going to become the pre-eminent journals, because if you get NIH funding, it is anointing you as a good, legitimate scientist." -K Jr. What?

Things that resonated with me: IRRs can be severe and result in falls. Beware. Should we treat superficial siderosis as contra-indication? Out of 7 people with SS, 1 had symptomatic ARIA (also had 5 MH's). One patient was taken off therapy due to insurance coverage: no words.

Otherwise discontinuations were low. ARIA rates lower than trial (also APOE44 lower). 1-2% symptomatic ARIA. Looks like BBBx are ready for prime time (in the most expert hands). I still like CSF and PET.

1. Function was stable a year later on average, n-psych scores improved. 2. Door to needle (memory loss, dx, MRI, APOE, biomarker, to IV lec) time improved drastically to just over 2 months.

Amazing work. Dissociate amyloid from tau, could be huge effect.

It's great to see our work with doña Aliria and the APOE3 Christchurch variant featured in Nature Outlook. It was a true honor to work with doña Aliria and her family, and to help ensure her story is part of the larger narrative of resilience against Alzheimer’s 🧠 www.nature.com/articles/d41...

Patient, "I called the guy on call last week, wow, he sounded stressed out. I said, 'hey, don't worry about me, I'll call back later.'" It is so weird and rare to have compassion flowing from patients towards doctors.
