Thought of the day: Align your expectations with the nature of things. Example: If you know that a particular coffee shop is usually loud and noisy, don't go there and become annoyed if it is loud and noisy. Applying this perspective will change your experience of life. #acceptance

Elon Musk's wrecking ball now swings at USAID, vaporizing humanitarian assistance, putting countless lives at risk, threatening to topple America's economic and moral standing and emboldening autocrats around the world. Stand strong for our top humanitarian aid agency.

apnews.comUSAID headquarters in Washington are blocked after Musk says Trump agrees to close the aid agencyThe developments come after Elon Musk said that he had spoken with President Donald Trump about the aid and development agency and “he agreed we should shut it down.”

The work of USAID is crucial to furthering the reputation of the USA globally through compassion. The attacks on USAID by Elon Musk and the Trump administration need to stop. We should strengthen compassion, not eliminate it.

You may believe man-made climate change contributed to the devastating LA Wildfires, or you may not. But can we all simply agree that living in a healthier relationship to nature is a good thing we should strive to do? 📸 Sunset on eastern edge of Eaton Fire

15 years ago today, an earthquake struck Haiti, causing the deaths of over 220,000 people. Natural disasters happen every year, but the magnitude of that number should rally the world to come to the aid of Haitians until everyone has enough food to eat, safe water drink, and a peaceful society.

Global public debt is at a record $97 trillion, according to UN figures. Public debt is growing twice as fast in developing countries, and economists expect debt defaults – where a government can’t pay what it owes – to rise in the coming year www.thenewhumanitarian.org/analysis/202...

Today, so many capitalize on their fame, even those who are doing good work for public benefit causes. Yet King believed he only needed what he needed to his family to live, and the rest of the money he could raise should go to the cause of civil rights and economic justice.

I don't think there's anything wrong with people who do good work for ethical causes earning a lot of money, in fact, the world might be better if the best paying jobs were those that provided social good. Yet learning this fact about King makes me admire him even more.

For you northerners

This was the #NotreDameDeParis last summer when I was in Paris. Very happy to see it has now been fully restored. Something so majestic ought to be seen.

Little actions make big impacts on our daily lives. Go for more walks, take meditation breaks to contemplate stillness. Find moments to be present, and bring greater peace into your life. #Philosophy

The ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon is such welcome news. We hope that this puts an end to the violence, suffering & destruction both countries have been experiencing. The UN is offering to support implementation. news.un.org/en/story/202...

Many praised polymarket for showing people betting on the election was a good indicator of outcomes. With Trump’s nominee of Robert Kennedy Jr as top health position, dental stocks surged. What does that say?

Public health advocates worry that President-elect Trump could unravel federal clean water efforts when he takes office, including restrictions on lead pipes and harmful “forever chemicals” known as PFAS.

My childhood was nibbles on MSDOS. Age 11 we first got the screeching sounds of AOL internet, which blew my world. My wife & I just welcomed our firstborn. I've been thinking about what new technologies will be part of his growing up. Things seemed so much simpler, before the screeching of AOL 😂

I'm working on an initiative through the #nonprofit I work for called Peacewalking. The idea is very simple: Walk where you live, meditate on peace, share a thought or photo from your walk + connect with others sharing thoughts of peace. Interested in participating? #WorldPeace @idwp.bsky.social

Pondering: Many of us dream of changing the world in huge, monumental ways. Yet it is taking the countless opportunities for simple acts of kindness around us each day that actually most make our world a better place. #Philosophy #Philanthropy (Thought was inspired by being in Los Angeles traffic)
