Does anybody remember when teen pregnancy was a huge boogeyman of the right? They had all these purity dances and whatnot? Pepperidge Farms remembers.
"From ages 15-19 the fertility rate is down 7% and it's down 70% over the last two decades, meaning we're telling people that are young not to have babies, to wait until they're in a more stable life situation, until they're more financially secure, maybe they haven't found the right partner.” (2/2)

Hello #HorrorWritersChat! I’m Tashi, and I am pursuing my querying journey for my weird supernatural YA horror novel. For isolation—I would go with The Blair Witch Project. The eerie sights, sounds, the shaky camera, and the characters’ fear—they still live rent free in my mind.
It’s that time again, folks. Welcome to Horror Writers Chat. Q1: #HorrorWritersChat - Introduce yourself, the horror you write, and share a favourite book/film/game that features a form of isolation. (It doesn’t have to be horror.)

Hi, I'm Vivian and I write horror, all kinds. I think The Elephant Man might be my favorite film about isolation. And then there's the book Circe by Madeline Miller. Great novel! #HorrorWritersChat

#HorrorWritersChat One big thing I do is the realization that no one is coming to the rescue. What doesn't kill you makes you stranger, according to Trevor Goodchild, and I've embraced that too.
Isolation can warp the perception of time, mess with memory, and cause hallucinations. Add a physical threat and it's pure horror. Q3: #HorrorWritersChat - When writing about isolation in horror, what techniques do you use to amplify the feeling of isolation for the reader?
Q4: I'm lucky to have amazing in-person and online writing groups, plus I'm actively engaging with the broader community. Also, even when I'm deep in writing, I "come up for air" (so-to-speak) every once and while and have a coffee or conversation with a buddy. #horrorwriterschat
Writing is solo work and can sometimes feel lonely. Being part of a community can help. Q4: #HorrorWritersChat - What do you do when you feel lonely or too isolated? Please share any tips on managing loneliness or what to do when you feel isolated. Let's help each other. --- Outro in 10 mins
Oh, golly, this is a good question. I start with realistic then amping up, e.g., we've all seen something out of the corner of our eye or thought we heard something we didn't. Have it just be a fake out, then WHAM!, it isn't! #horrorwriterschat

Q2: The most horrific and tragic type of isolation for me is ~•°cults°•~ or abusive relationships which slowly mindgame people into isolating themselves into cutting of their relationships with loved ones for complete control. #horrorwriterschat
Isolation can be > physical (location), > social (emotionally disconnected), > and psychological (mental). Or it can be many types at once. Q2: #HorrorWritersChat - Which type of isolation (or mixture of types) do you find the most interesting in horror? Why? Share examples.
Q1: I'm Dylan, I write grief, cosmic, and religious horror. I like the film the Ritual! Very cool monster design and, don't be upset, I liked it better than the book! (I know, I know) #horrorwriterschat
