600+ documented attacks on science under the Trump administration. Canada is feeling it. We rely on U.S. science for weather forecasts and wildfire tracking. Evidence should challenge the politics, not the other way around. youtube.com/shorts/3HcLM...

Can we please stop saying “fake news”? We stopped using it in 2018. Misinformation is false or misleading info, intended or not. Disinformation is deliberately spread to deceive. Words matter. Happy Science Literacy Week! 🔬 youtube.com/shorts/H3nBi...
Think you're good at spotting misinformation? 🤔 Being educated doesn't make us immune. Sometimes the information we should check most carefully is the information we really want to believe. Happy Science Literacy Week! 🔬 youtube.com/shorts/D_AlD...

Bill C-31 would end mandatory pesticide re-evaluations, the safeguard that catches risks discovered after approval. E4D joined the David Suzuki Foundation and other groups today urging the Senate to reject these changes. davidsuzuki.org/press/silent...

Canada currently re-evaluates every pesticide at least once every 15 years. Bill C-31 would replace that with reviews only when risks appear to have "increased significantly." But what if you don't know there's a problem until you look for it? youtube.com/shorts/xpJ46...
Canada just announced 64 recipients of a program to attract world-leading researchers. Great news. But researchers already here are struggling to get funded. We need to attract, retain, and develop, not just recruit. youtube.com/shorts/v3yc9...
Canada released five principles for responsible data centre development. Good start, but who checks the numbers? Trust isn't built on promises. It's built on enforcement. youtube.com/shorts/dcOgQ...

Canada's new "AI for All" strategy wants more AI adoption, but public trust and AI literacy are still low. Join Evidence for Democracy on Sept 23 at 12 pm ET for a panel on what it actually takes to build public trust in AI. Register here: evidencefordemocracy.ca/beyond-ai-li...
"Studies show" is missing one word: which studies? Was it peer-reviewed? Proper comparison group? Cause and effect, or just a connection? Ask to see the study, then check if it actually proves what they're claiming. youtube.com/shorts/-6W9f... Learn more: www.evidencematterstome.ca

Canada's new AI strategy, AI for All, aims to grow the AI economy and position Canada as a global leader. People don't want more AI. They want AI they can trust. Take two minutes to tell your MP what accountable AI should look like. actionnetwork.org/letters/ai-f...
An MLA accidentally read AI editing instructions out loud during a legislature speech. Funny clip, but it raises real questions about AI use in government and who is actually checking the work.
Imagine a government scientist finds a risk to public health. Now imagine that research gets delayed, softened, or buried because it's politically inconvenient. Scientific integrity policies exist to stop that. It's why E4D was founded, and why we keep fighting.
The government keeps talking about AI literacy. But what if the real problem isn't that people don't understand AI? What if it's that people don't trust the rules around it? Trust doesn't come from comfort with AI. It comes from safeguards and accountability. youtube.com/shorts/CCm_G...
If AI is going to shape public decisions, the public deserves a say. Send a letter to your MP today to let them know your thoughts on AI: actionnetwork.org/letters/ai-f...
AI is already part of your day. The call centre. The job application. The classroom. The government service. Canada's new AI strategy says it's for everyone. Worth checking. Two minutes to tell your MP what accountable AI should look like. actionnetwork.org/letters/ai-f...
The federal government is using AI, do Canadians know how? Over 400 documented uses of AI across the federal government. Two out of five built by external vendors, most of them American owned. If our government is going to use AI, we should know how, where, and why. youtube.com/shorts/-xqYz...
Canada's AI strategy says it's for everyone. We think that's worth proving. AI is already part of hiring, schools, banking, and government services, often without much transparency. Send a letter to your MP and help shape what accountable AI should look like. actionnetwork.org/letters/ai-f...
That wildfire video on your feed might be real. It might also be old, from another province, or AI-generated. With active fires in Ontario and Quebec, misinformation can spread as fast as the smoke. Pause. Check. Verify.
We keep hearing projects are in the "national interest." Who decides that, and based on what evidence? Under the Building Canada Act, that label can fast-track approval through a single conditions document instead of the usual permits.
What if the paperwork everyone complains about is actually protecting you? Environmental assessments get dismissed as red tape, but they're one of the main ways we catch harm before it happens. Not red tape. Evidence-informed decision-making. youtube.com/shorts/eC6fm...
Canada wants to fast-track major project approvals: one-year decisions, combined consultations, pre-approved zones. Faster isn't better if it means less transparency. Feedback is open until July 22. We made a guide to help you weigh in: evidencefordemocracy.ca/the-federal-...
“Evidence-informed policy” doesn’t mean scientists make every decision. It means governments should use the best available evidence and be transparent about how it shaped the decision. Evidence makes politics more honest.
Canada is moving fast to approve major projects, but speed can’t be the only goal. Tell the federal government: major projects need evidence, consultation, safeguards, and accountability. Submit feedback by July 22: evidencefordemocracy.ca/the-federal-...
Attacks on U.S. science aren't just an American problem. Canadian researchers share data, co-author papers, and train students with U.S. scientists. Funding cuts and censorship send ripple effects north. Research funding should follow merit and peer review, not politics.
Did you catch this? Bill C-30 gives Cabinet power to allow pesticides even when scientific review finds their risks unacceptable. If evidence shows a pesticide is unsafe, Canadians deserve to know why it's allowed anyway.
