i’ve kept up daily drawing this year but i’ve,,, been doing minimal amounts for the last month or so starting to do more each day now!!!!! filled my 4th sketchbook this year today but this one took much longer

idk what i want from nintendo anymore. i always liked their handheld games more than the console games but ever since their handheld became their main console.. they dont really do those kinds of games anymore?

was playing echoes of wisdom a bit over lunch break and its lacking a lot of the charm older 2d zeldas have imo.. There's lots of space but most of it doesn't feel important and the modern questing system feels weird

was learning trenchbroom and now i’m playing quake and doom bc i never rly played either.. (only played the first episode of each so far though

some features that id like experiment with: - procedural stuff. eg automatic trims. quick ways to easily decorate boxes (like how pennys big breakaway dev was done, but built into editor?) - painting textures like a tilemap editor? multiple textures on one brush face, split brush when compiling

ok i’ve managed to arrange two (ok, like 1.8 bc one needs a bridge still) vocal tracks this week somehow which means now i definitely need to learn how to lyrics, smh im too scared of the words i think i just need to riff on weird topic ideas and see what sticks

made it a goal this week to write vocal (synthv) music with rly simple instrumentals (mostly monophonic lines, only 1-3 instruments the same time, rly basic basslines etc) and its working i think!!!! still cant write lyrics tho lol

combining ufo50 and valkyria chronicles for fun (extremely rushed bc i just wanted to do something that would be quick to make lol)

大変お待たせしました。日本語版『UFO 50』のSteam、Nintendo Switch向け配信日が4月16日に決定しました。どうぞお楽しみに! (The Japanese version of UFO 50 will be coming out on Steam and Nintendo Switch on April 16th!)

i’ve been slowly poking at making my own mobile music composition app bc i really don’t want to have to be tied to a computer to do music/art etc.. if i get that to a decent state, i should maybe revive my old mobile tileset making app idea bc i rly enjoy making pixel tiles

(music app is intentionally being made slowly i’m doing small bits of consistent work and also i’m stupid so it has a custom ui library made from scratch)

this is moslty bc im actually drawing every day i think but im improving a lot more comfortably doing daily pencil drawings as opposed to in the last when i mostly drew digitally. pencil just nice…

if i were to make up reasons for this… - physical sketchbook is nice bc its very eays to flip through pages of prev drawings and see what youve been doing recently - pencil gives a lot of control over how heavy your line is and you can erase stuff. in comparison pen makes me afraid to commit lines.l

with pencil, you can erase and redraw. but its a bit more high friction than digital undo (so you dont become careless). and unlike digital u cant just shuffle stuff around with lasso and liquefy etc after drawing. i think those tools are useful in digital art but make it very easy to draw lazily?
