Officially lapsed into drought last week. Now under a flood watch. Nice, normal weather we're having. Nothing extreme or worrisome.

Salt marsh moth, widespread enough to be native to Kansas despite the name. Caterpillars can eat a wide variety of leaves because they have the ability to convert plant toxins into sex pheromones.

Maple spanworm moth. As the name suggests, caterpillars eat maple leaves but also a wide variety of other trees.

Elf shoe stink bug. Supposedly, there is a pattern on their back that looks like elf shoes, but I don't see it even on better pix on the web.
