The concept of multiple investigations and convictions if Congress swings left isn’t that outlandish if you consider the sheet quantity of failed indictments the current DOJ is a part of…

Everything about the last week in foreign and domestic policy decisions by the current administration is sickening. These are NOT normal times - and any allusion to normalcy should be sanguinely countered. Mid-term predictions give hope - we need to have plans for accountability and consequences.

I am as cynical as anyone that any of these activities will come to fruition, we have to believe in the goodness of our neighbors. Vote. Communicate to our elected officials. Hold to hope for a better world.

Accountability — hearings, investigations, and directions to departments to act. Article 1 gives power to Congress to direct action. Majorities should mean something, and reasserting that power is essential to manifesting the voice of the people.

Consequences - impeach department heads, office holders, and those who have acted contrary to their oaths. Recommend disbarment for anyone standing up in courts who have destroyed the credibility of the very offices they were sworn to serve.

🌡️ DC just shattered a century-old heat record. Wednesday's 90F was the latest such reading in recorded history, beating the previous mark by three days. It's no fluke. DC's mounting heat records tell the story of our warming climate. See the staggering list: www.capitalweather.com/dcs-remarkab...

“The idea is that environmental pollution may be a by-product of economic activity that is not entirely taken into account by economic models” (Ince, 262-263). Observing the way wealth is distributed, and the statements by the obscenely rich - this statement hits hard. #economics

(1/2) Tony accurately captures the problems continuing in the Air Force. Even at AFA last week, for all the platitudes, not seeing the kinds of corrections that will be needed to rebuild (resurrect?) our (my beloved) USAF. substack.com/@radarblog/n...

(2/2) Lots of hope in autonomy and cost-efficiency. Tangible acquisition solutions unmatched to conversations about needed force structure, foundational identity, and realistic integration changes. With one exception (EOU) only paper changes offered.

OTOH the practical nature of meeting an unofficial but influential advisor is understandable (laudable even). OTO, completely tone-deaf to the actual practice of Mr. Trump and legitimizing a corrupt administration. Mr. Jeffries would do well to explain this action. www.nytimes.com/2026/08/23/u...

Quick but compelling read on the mine war of 1920-21. One piece of history - it represented the first use of Air Power in civil insurrection. Mitchell - off of his Ostfriedland sinking sent the 88th to West Virginia. #books #history #labor

The amazing Karen Florini speaking @chq1874.bsky.social Hall of Philosophy today (Aug 19, 2026) showing a serendipitous symbiosis of solar panels shading sheep while they safely graze. The lecture highlighted the interconnectedness of Food and Climate. Solutions exist if we act together!

Brian Frank, FTW Ventures speaking on innovation in food and food sources. Truly optimistic delivery - perhaps a bit too Pollyannish on the altruism levels of large companies, but the sentiment is well received.

Call me a skeptic - but I don’t see this going well. Certainly good to try new approaches, but cyber-privateering may unleash greater threats and escalate malicious activity in an ever accelerating cycle of aggression.

Do we know the things that make for peace? He weeps because we don’t practice the things that make for peace. Such a powerful message at the glorious interfaith service this morning!

Sometimes you pick up a book with one expectation and it completely inverts that expectation. Adam IP Smiths “Gettysburg” did that - excellent reflection turn on Gettysburg the battle and more importantly Gettysburg the meaning. #history

Juneteenth celebrates the emancipation of enslaved people and serves as a reminder of America's history with racism, injustice, and suffering. Even as this administration attempts to erase this history, we must confront and learn from it to build a better future.
