This pathetic faux-innocent “but it was before he was an MP”, when said by actual MPs, who should know the rules, is breathtaking. Any gift in the previous 12 months is potentially declarable. Stds commissioner can take into account Farage’s behaviour during the inquiry. 🧐

This. Well said, @riotgrandma.bsky.social

🙄🙄 They hounded him over a curry They hounded him over a pair of glasses They hounded him over a suit They hounded him over using a quiet flat to let his son revise They hounded him if he went abroad They hounded him if he stayed in the UK Meanwhile Farage pockets £gazillions, lies, incites riots..

Toynbee literally says that "honesty doesn't pay' in politics and that Burnham must engage in gesture politics. "Impressions are everything." There we have it. Having a decent, honest man, who doesn't do gesture politics, in 10 Downing Steet isn't enough. It is for me, but what do I know?

theguardian.comAs Starmer eyes the exit, here’s a vital lesson for Andy Burnham: first impressions are everything | Polly ToynbeeIf the Makerfield MP is to be our next PM, he needs some immediate and memorable cost of living policies to avoid his predecessor’s fate, says Guardian columnist Polly Toynbee

Andy Burnham has said he'd like to be in number 10 by September like it's a foregone conclusion. I wonder if my boss would step aside with no fuss for me to take their job, even though they're doing it rather well, as easy as that?

Why exactly would a Thailand-based economic migrant secretly give Nigel Farage £5 million as a 'reward' for delivering Brexit? I won't get to ask either of them this question but every single journalist & broadcaster granted access could...

Once again, a Grauniad hack thinks it's just a bit of a laugh. To the millions who literally need a Labour government to sort the mess left behind by 14 years of Tory rot, and to prevent the fascist Farage getting into number 10, it's anything but.

theguardian.comThe runners, the riders, the dead horses being flogged. Do you bet on this Labour chaos – or just enjoy the comedy? | Marina HydeOnly on Sunday, Starmer was talking about his 2029 manifesto. If a week is a long time in politics, this one already feels longer, says Guardian columnist Marina Hyde

Guardian hack responds to my view that her paper wants Labour to fail. Is it any wonder so many of us are abandoning it?

Me, literally in print last week where anyone can read it; rushing into a leadership contest straight after these elections would be a mistake. You: THIS IS WHAT YOU WANTED. God forbid MPs have free will

Apologies for sounding like a broken record, but today the BBC and Sky have plumbed new depths in their coverage of Keir Starmer. Mason and Rigby have both long abandoned actual journalism. Today was all about driving the anti-Starmer agenda, not reporting on it. I totally despair.

Privately educated, ex Oxford Uni (nearly all of them at the Grauniad are ex Oxford) hack Marina Hyde joining its endless and increasingly vindictive war against Keir Starmer. It's well beyond a joke now - there are none in Hyde's piece - and they won't be getting my £180 annual subs this year.

theguardian.comStarmer seems to think he can do no wrong – two weeks of Mandy-mania hearings point to the opposite conclusion | Marina HydeBereft of any big ideas, or indeed policies, the PM is in his happy place: a never-ending parliamentary procedural process, says Guardian columnist Marina Hyde

Tice has to resign. The likes of Mason, Kuenssberg, Peston, Rigby and Coates will be all over him like a rash. Won't they?

Otto English@ottoenglish.bsky.social

Richard Tice deputy leader of Reform ran four shell companies which did not pay any tax on profits between 2020 and 2022. He's now offering to "put things right". Go on then Richard - resign. www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/poli...

Who knew that George Robertson, who is demanding vast increases in UK defence spending, happens to work for ... er ... defence lobbyists who stand to benefit from vast increases in UK defence spending? Oddly, @bbcnews.bsky.social has failed to point this out on any of their news bulletins today.

I’m thinking that any Gasheads who liked Joey Barton will be very happy with the appointment of Steve Evans. With the budget he will have demanded off AlSaeed, they’ll piss League 2 next year.

And now we go live to the Daily Mail, which has been slaughtering Keir Starmer and the Labour government for weeks for not following Dementia Don into his insane war on Iran.
