Something about pathological liars just seems to short circuit peoples brains. Fsr we don't regard it in the same way we do other mental illnesses, and instead take every opportunity to litigate and re-litigate predictable patterns of behavior as though it comes from some place of unfathomable evil

The litigation predictably leads to the same conclusion (lies reinforced by lies) and for some reason we treat each peeled-back layer as a revelation of a deeper terror of pathology, rather than like. The same behavior you're already familiar with

some ppl are not interested in actually being critical, they just want to post "hot takes" where the insisted "hotness" of the "take" is proportionate to how superior they feel they are to the conversation taking place

the only value of a "hot take" is its contrary nature. very rarely do I ever see a "hot take" that has any critical value because the purpose of the "hot take" is to signal a contrary superiority to discourse, not to expose something valuable that others are missing
