First day back at the gym after throwing out my back two weeks ago (ouch), then getting laid off (rage). Not great, but surviving.

Have a seat, and let me tell you about the curiosities I beheld at Costco. -An old man shoved his cart at me and ran off to get in line for free samples. -A couple with free samples blocked both directions of traffic to eat and discuss them. They looked confused when I said "Seriously?!" (1/3)

Well, I'm back from Costco. As always, it was a journey. Let's do this. -An old man enamored with watermelons. He walked up and down the aisle randomly touching and caressing (!) them, then would quickly pivot and walk way...only to return to them once more. He could not stop touching them. (1/4)

-A young-ish man wearing a leopard-print jacket and giant sunglasses. A pimp? No hat, though... -A woman who danced in front of the granola, including jazz hands, and exclaimed "Hell yeah!" when her partner explained it was sprouted granola. - The gay cashier who still hates me. Avoided him (2/3)

-An elderly woman who looked like Estelle Getty and was super excited about Ritz crackers. She squealed and did a little dance. -A confusing array of sequins, costume jewelry, mustaches, cowboy boots. -Old guy who stared at me, slackjawed, following my every step through the parking lot. (3/3)

Great first day at PRGE. Played some games, bought some games and some books, networked 👀, and I even hung out a bit with @deeb.bsky.social, who appears to be an expo expert and is just as charming you'd expect. Also got ten Streetpass Tags! And I have the fourth highest score in Missile Command.

My husband and I found this dog wandering down the street in the Parkrose neighborhood in Portland. No license. Couldn't find an owner, so we took him to the animal shelter. He's very friendly and somewhat trained. Reposts appreciated if you're in the area. He has to have had an owner.

Got a much needed trim. How big is my mustache going to get? Not sure, but I'm almost at the stage at which I need a monocle. I can also twirl it while scheming, so look out.

There. I did it. Two routes down. Might have to take a break before I finish it up. It's turning into a slog at this point. Is this how Fortune's Weave is set up, too? Because, to be honest, this structure is not working for me.

Today, I'm going to finish the Black Eagles route in Three Houses if it kills me. Playing on hard, and the entire game has been a cake walk until this level. The difficulty spike is insane. Am I enjoying this game? Eh? Kind of? The number of issues I have with it doubled in this route.

It's my first official day of being unemployed, and while that sucks, it does give me more time for the things I enjoy: -ennui -staring into the void -wondering if this is a midlife crisis -yelling into the void -thinking about everything -regret -apologizing to the void for yelling -exhaustion

I do deserve to be happy! 🫠

Sagittarius: It's important to look after your emotional health. If you feel the need to dissolve into a puddle of goo and loose bones, just go for it. You deserve to be happy.

We're going to the Portland Retro Gaming Expo next weekend. If you're going and want to meet up, let me know. I promise to be just as charmingly awkward in real life as I am here.

I suppose I can find some solace in knowing my entire department was axed. It wasn't just me, not that I'm happy others lost their jobs. I helped grow that team, our content, for four years, and it all vanished in an afternoon. RE is great. Go see it. Thanks for the well wishes. ❤️

The difficult decision I was weighing was made for me. I've been laid off. Standard reasons (market pressure, economy, competitors), but my well-known anti-AI stance put a target on my back. I'd rather never edit again then use AI to edit. What's next? Not sure. Off to see Resident Evil, though.

So, which websites are people using for job hunting these days? LinkedIn is an absolute nightmare, and Indeed is laughably, embarrassingly wrong about basics, sooooo... It's just networking, isn't it? That's what's left.

My lower back was feeling kind of tight yesterday. Then, I bent over to pick up a towel, and my back spasmed. Now, I can barely bend at all because everything is so tight. Can't go to the gym to burn off stress from work, so I guess I'll just burn, burn brighter, then implode like a dying star.

Just finished the Blue Lion route in Three Houses. Generally enjoying Three Houses. Pacing and narrative issues, but I'm hoping the latter gets resolved through the other routes. Wish they'd do something more than just rout conditions, though. I miss defend levels. Black Eagles on hard next.

Just finished watching RE: Welcome to Raccoon City. It's a fun, stupid mess that tries to accomplish way too much in the span of a single film. Bastardized characters and plots, too. Just...whew. And yet, still better than all the ones that came before it. Seeing the new RE next weekend.

It wouldn't be prudent to be explicit; however, there are some AI-related shifts occurring at my workplace. Suffice it to say that the amount of despair, demoralization, and ennui I'm experiencing from that is some kind of new hell that I didn't know existed until today. F*** AI and its supporters.

@retrobitgaming.bsky.social Hey, there. Regarding R-Type DX, how involved is Limited Run in its production? Is the cartridge internally produced by y'all, or is this a collaboration with them? I see that there's a specific LRG edition, but I'm unclear about their involvement in the game itself.

Oh, Santa. Stop. You're making me blush. What's that? You were hoping I'd come down your chimney with my big present? Santa! Keep talking like that, and you'll end up on the naughty list! Huh? You want me to stuff your stocking?! What?! 🤯

Has anyone bought games from Retro-Bit? I saw that they're reprinting R-Type DX, which piqued my interest. I was thinking about snagging it, but I don't know anything about the company, and I've been burned before, so...I'm hesitant.
