📚 Save the date! The book ‘The Origins of War and Peace in the Human Species’ by #EISS Founding Director Hugo Meijer will be published in September 2026 by Cambridge University Press ! 🎉 www.cambridge.org/universitypr...

🔍 Central argument: Neither war nor peace is a unitary package that evolved at a single point in time. Both have deep roots and co-evolved gradually through a mosaic-like trajectory, with distinct but interacting components emerging at different moments over evolutionary time.

📚 Save the date! The book ‘The Origins of War and Peace in the Human Species’ by #EISS Founding Director Hugo Meijer will be published in September 2026 by Cambridge University Press ! 🎉 www.cambridge.org/universitypr...

⚔️🕊️ Why — and since when — are humans capable of both war and peace? 🌍 The book explores the origins of this defining feature of our species.

🎉 New research! 📄 In a new paper in #Globalizations, #EISS Secretary General Moritz Weiss and colleagues explore whether regional powers are merely adapting to global digital rules—or actively shaping them.

Focusing on cases like Turkey, India, and South Africa, they show that these countries are not passive rule-takers. Instead, they selectively draw from competing governance models to build their own hybrid digital frameworks.
