Since 2016, London’s cycling network has grown fivefold, from 90 to 450 kilometres. The results? 1.5 million daily cycle journeys—a 43% increase since 2019—twice as many bikes as cars on City of London streets during the day, and motor traffic in steady decline—having fallen 25% in the same period.

🏘️ Can the #15MinuteCity work beyond city centres? In suburban areas, where services are spread out and public transport can be limited, creating accessible neighbourhoods takes new approaches. The DREAMS project has spent 3 years exploring how to make it happen. 🧵

🇪🇺 So, what can we learn from the suburbs? Today in Munich, around 60 participants from cities, universities and industry explored lessons from 6 DREAMS Living Labs: Budapest, Brussels, Munich, Paris, Utrecht and Vienna. Different contexts, shared challenges.

💡 The next step: putting insights into practice. Tomorrow, participants will test tools, methods and business models developed through DREAMS, exploring how to make suburban neighbourhoods more walkable, connected & accessible. Because the #15MinuteCity must work for everyone.

Cities that put people before cars? At the EU Covenant of Mayors Ceremony, @teresaribera.ec.europa.eu, Executive Vice-President for a Clean, Just and Competitive Transition, highlighted Copenhagen's pedestrianisation as an example of how bold political choices can create more liveable cities.

🏙️ Cities are not just implementing European policies. They must be strategic partners in shaping them. At the @ec.europa.eu EU Covenant of Mayors Ceremony 2026, one message stood out: empowering local leaders is essential to turning Europe's climate ambitions into real-world impact.

🚗 What does your city make space for? More cars? Or more people? The shift from car-centred to people-centred cities won’t come from one solution. It takes many pieces working together, from how we move and park to how we design our streets.

New study suggests that a shortage of secure bike parking is limiting e-bike adoption. Glad to see this issue getting attention. It's intuitive that people with quasi-secure bike storage might be OK risking a pedal bike, but not an e-bike that's more expensive. doi.org/10.1016/j.tr...
