Next thing you know, the guy's going to show up in a beige suit.

Years ago, a friend and I were at a Star Trek con very late at night and we found Mr. Koenig lost in the lobby. It was his first one and his mind was blown. He was a nice man as far as we could tell and we were happy to help him out. I'm glad he lived a long life. I hope his years were good.

sfgate.comWalter Koenig, Ensign Chekov on the original 'Star Trek' series, dies at 90Koenig appeared in seven “Star Trek” movies and wrote a book about the series. He also acted in “Babylon 5” and ventured into computer games.

My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.

Birds of a feather flock together.

Christopher Hale: Archbishop Jeffrey Grob of Milwaukee apologized on Sunday for praying over President Trump in the Oval Office last week, and he accused the White House of posting video of the prayer without the bishops’ consent

When I was learning to read, Dad brought home all the NYC newspapers. The help wanted ads had separate sections for men and women and the men got $100 per week more than women in all the jobs. Now we have women flying planes and men being nurses. You can work at what you're good at.

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

The plot to "Wicker" sounded so WEIRD and I love Olivia Colman. Adapted from an 11 page short story fairy tale, "The Wicker Husband" (you can read it on archive.org) and added characters and dialogue that make it very funny as well. A lovely movie.

I was about to get upset that Tom Skerritt had died, but he was 93. I hope they were all good years.

The US government wants to root out boojums and ghosts by asking us to report fraud of all nature. Here is an article that can offer a helpful guide in this matter.... (BTW - I can't find a way to enter alt text in a shared article) theexistentialistrepublic.com/articles/i-r...

I've been listening to audiobooks and most of them go in one ear and out... However, I had to get the ebook for "The Great Gatsby" and READ READ it after listening to a bit of it. I really need to revisit the greats because a lot of modern books are not cutting it for me. 📚💙 #booksky

So there's supposed to be all sorts of activities for No Kings Day, but I could not find a big gathering to hang out with and the whole thing is about voting early. I did that yesterday anyway, so can celebrate it because I got a note from the county saying my vote was counted today.

Shortest Job Tenure Story 2000 and companies were flaming out. CEO's would ask me if I had any questions and I'd ask what their burn rate was. One place, I just said, "You have 8 months." and politely bid them goodbye. They lasted 8 months. So that was a -1 day job?

Inktober's prompt for today was "Lady", so I poked the internet and found Lady Louise Windsor who actually does look a great deal like her gran, Queen Elizabeth II. My portraiture skills do not do justice to the resemblance (which I think is sweet.)

#booksky - I've been a bit jittery lately coming out of self-quarantine and have resorted to audiobooks. The latest is Jasper Fforde's "Dark Reading Matter: The Last Thursday Next Novel" - Yeah, I don't believe that, LOL. I think there will be more.

In light of the drones taking out the Russian bot farms, I can't help but think that the reason why "AI" companies are fast tracking data centers is that they know American bot farms won't get taken out by drones. The billionaires and GOP want their bots safe.

Regarding Columbus Day vs Indigenous People's Day, we can choose between the first of many genocidal nutbirds invading a continent and a bunch of people who were minding their own business. I'm for the Indigenous. Now if we can only celebrate with fry bread.... (my frybread agenda is NOT hidden)

It's National Coming Out Day. I propose a new orientation called "Emeritus" or "Retired" to mean "Done With All That". I can still discreetly bounce my eyebrows at someone good looking, but I absolutely don't want them following me home.

For Caturday, a cheetah who has seen it all.

Our #Photographer of the Month, Leo Kim, describes #Namibia as a wildlife photographer’s dream. For Leo, in particular it was the country’s incredible colors and diversity and abundance of #wildlife. 🔗 Read more: cheetah.org/uk/2026/10/0...

Idiocracy. It's a pre-documentary.

Is there a work of art that was created well before the current era that you feel explains Trump and MAGA and everything better than anything contemporary? For me it’s Assassins (1990) but I’m curious if other people have one.
