Time for a new pinned post! --- Hi! My name is Axel, aka Elanis, 28, from France and I work as a freelance web developer in the day and a solo gamedev & other creative activities in my free time. Take a look at my profile description to take a look at my games on Steam :) #solodev #indiegamedev

Fun fact about Logistik: Originally, it wasn't planned to be one, but two different games with the same codebase, a train management and an electricity management game. I don't think I'll do the second one😄 #solodev #gamedev

A few years ago, I realized I loved making tools as much as (and sometimes even more than) making games, and I wondered if I should make tools/extensions for Unity/Unreal and sell them. And oh boy, I'm so happy I never went that way and made my revenues depend on those companies now

I probably won't do a lot more gamedev than that today, but a new error in the game has been added on Logistik😄 (With additional automated gameplay tests to check it, of course! c:) Steam: store.steampowered.com/app/3928180/... #indiedev #solodev #trains #indiegame

Slowly, but I'm closer and closer to 60% code coverage on the game, which is not bad at all, since I'm only doing gameplay (e2e) tests 😄

I probably did about half of the list I planned for the next update :) Mostly QoL, not really new features yet, but it's been a fun and productive moments through the week-end c:

I've cleaned up the code a bit, made it easy to add new games through PRs, added a new badge dedicated to marketing, ... I won't publish the next version right now, I want to add a bit more features (steam categories support & improvements on SNF), and additional games data too 9/?

Yesterday I've had the first PRs from the community to add new games to the extension data :) That's great! 😄 10/?

What about even more improvements on tutorials? The text now go straight to the point, and I added GIFs :) (Also, yes, I was working with the steam deck game resolution, so I can check everything looks fine even in the "worse" case 😄) Demo: s.team/a/3928180/ #screenshotsaturday #gamedev #solodev

After the update around 3 weeks ago, the game actually feel pretty well balanced! I will probably break this balance very fast once I add new features, but atm, it's satisfying 😄 Demo available here: store.steampowered.com/app/3928180/... #solodev #indiedev #indiegame #gamedev #trains

The first task of the list: bsky.app/profile/did:...

Elanis@elanis.eu

Not much, but another piece of UX to make the game even clearer! The cursor can now go in "denied" mode when you're trying to do someting forbidden (like a very irrealistic angle!), in addition to the already existing grey color + errors on click. s.team/a/3928180/ #indiegame #gamedev #solodev

Third one and few other out of the list (told ya I would go off the list 😂) bsky.app/profile/elan...

Elanis@elanis.eu

Last one before I have to leave. Slight improvements in the quest tiles and modal. So tiles: active state (border black + white background), and tick when done. Modal: green ticks instead of black, and one more tick in the details Before/After: #gamedev #indiedev #solodev

I talked with some players and scrolled in the bug tracker, here's what's planned for the next update (probably, depending on what motivates me, could have a few of these out and a few more in):

Since we can embed links directly on our profiles now, I've revamped mine! More space on the profile for me to write cool stuff 😎

Wishlist deletion are very high on Logistik this month. I'm starting to wonder if the game is really interesting enough, if that's worth it to put hundred of hours of dev in it 😅 (Yeah, I'm not in the most optimistic mood recently)

The usual organic wishlists I used to have on my other games are not here anymore (because platform/market changes through the years), that's probably the big difference with them.

And well, I still had hope for next fest to be one good bump of visibility in the future (feb or june one, probably), but seeing the current one ... It doesn't give hope at all 😅 Marketing your game and making it attractive is freaking hard ahah

I know this is silly, but I'm having lots of fun when I write this kind of small data manipulation/transformation scripts 😄 (This is for my browser extension yep, I'm trying to make it easier to contribute data on the repo!)

Not going to lie, working on this project has been hella fun. It's been a long time since I just spent 4 hours in a row without any distraction on something just because it was fun working on it. I love this feeling, this is why I became a developer 😄 7/?

I also plan on adding new ways to tag data. The goal, of course, is to make it easy to have badges and the crowdsourced data being the cherry on the top :) Licenses are MIT for the code, and CC-BY-SA 4 for the content, so you can re-use the content for more tools if you want! (but credit us!) 5/?

Oh and yeah, the name is just a big reference to Phineas and Ferb's own Heinz Doofenshmirtz projects 😄 6/?

This extension is still experimental, but is generating its badges on a few basis: - Games who's got no update after chatgpt release are automatically human - Games with AI Disclosure on steam automatically have warning icons - Crowdsourced data I plan on adding more stores if possible (itch 👀) 2/?

Okay, it's really going somewhere now 👀 (Also, the first versions of the extension have been accepted on both Firefox and Chrome store! Will do a full public announcement once the next update will be live)

Ok soo.. I tried something I tried going on the whole bsky.app/starter-pack... list, I've got (kinda manually) 115 different games on Steam, and then added them automatically to the list It works ... but it took me 1.5 hours. I will definitely need community help if I want this extension to work 😅

And now, I automatically link the current app with its parent metadata if needed :) (So if that's a DLC, a soundtrack, a demo, a playtest, ...)

And next fest support! It still needs lots of improvements, but I feel like I'll release an update like that for the moment :)

So, okay, today I learned, AG Grid completely dropped the support of the (pretty good) CLI tool to upgrade between major version to replace it ... with a genai skill So now, we're relying on an heavy and expensive, non-deterministic tool, to do some simple seach & replace or structure transform? FML

Okay, it may not lead to some long term project ... but I've been trying to write something tonight. I always felt the "AI Generated Content Disclosure" on Steam wasn't great. So maybe I can make something?

115 indie games using no genai that will now be tagged as no genai in the next version. I feel like if there was some kind of community work behind, we could easily cover the whole next fest for example 👀

Well maybe not cover next fest as easily as I thought. There are more than 7k games, damn. I still remember when I participated and there was like 600 of us 😅

But once the list was built in my script, I could add the hundred of games in a matter of seconds in the extension, at least 😄

I'll be thinking about other ideas, I need some way to make it faster while keeping it accurate. I have a few ideas, but it'll need some technical experimentations 😄 (The funny part of the work on this project, tbh ahah)

Why is it taking time? Well, because sometimes the game is in the bio, sometimes in the pinned post, sometimes on the dev website... And then, once I added the game to my list, I also took a look at the developer page, if that was the same at the profile, I added all the games at once

Well, I tried, it's ugly (especially when doing the transition), I don't think I'll make it work properly for now. It's not a priority. It could look cool, but maybe it's too much work for the result 😅 We'll see later #solodev #indiegame #gamedev #indiedev

Now that I'm done working on my "project of the moment" (the browser extension), I'm thinking of going back to some gamedev! How about I try writing a day/night cycle for Logistik ? 👀 #solodev #indiegame #indiedev

But hey, at least, I've written a function to lerp between colors (spoiler: converting hex to number, then lerping is not a good idea 😂)

Fun fact, I've been working for 37 days in a row on my projects. And for 2026, that's 249/291 days I worked on my projects for at least 5 minutes. Not bad at all 😄 Pics: without/with my day jobs, total time spent working

It's so hard to let go. I should, it's time to embrace my whole personality and add fun easter eggs to my game 😄 And useless features. And everything else!
