"The director wants audiences to “make their decisions about how they feel” about the technology"
my decision is that i'm not going to watch movies made by filmmakers who have no respect for other artists.
i'm sure it's essential viewing, but holy shit i have neither the necessary intestinal fortitude nor the self-loathing to force myself to endure watching multiple hours of this vile, tiny little man.
"The men in the photograph, who were abused by the Crown as children and have since been told that the clothing they wear is itself an offence, watched a woman be publicly destroyed for standing in a room with them and telling them that their vote could change the government."
NEW AD: Have you seen these anti-Talarico attack ads?
Elon Musk paid for nearly all of them.
The world's first trillionaire knows if he drags the most corrupt politician in Texas across the finish line, Ken Paxton will owe him everything.
Elon Musk: Texas is not for sale.
Chris Hipkins is probably the only living person who could manage to make an entire election news cycle focus on how shit he is as a leader when the other major story is the kids hospital doing hunger games to see which kids get to survive.

going through tom skerritt's filmography looking for something to watch, i'm struck by the two-decade run of really crappy movies.
he was better than SO MUCH of what he was in!
10pm, when aotearoa bsky is starting to wind down, east coast bsky is starting to pick up, and everything looks bleak.
i need to add more cats to my feed, i think.
Brendan Larsen from Ngāmotu in Aotearoa and a member of the New Plymouth Astronomical Society took this stack over a couple of hours and estimates 14000 satellite trails. This is how bad it is now, it's set to get much much much worse - and then we lose Low […]

U.S. and NATO forces concluded drills this week designed to test their cooperation in defending the alliance's eastern flank, a task that is front and center for European countries dealing with an escalating range of malign Russian activity.

ESPN producer Nicole Noren quits over sports broadcasting's increasingly predatory promotion of gambling: “I’m not going to work for a gambling company and have blood on my hands.”
New paper out today shows that ICE and National Guard presence in DC led to a pretty sizable drop in pediatric ER visits among Spanish-speaking and Hispanic patients. If sick kids can't go to the emergency room, immigration justice has to be a public health issue. jamanetwork.com/journals/jam...
my robot vac station just told me that it couldn't clean the mop because there wasn't enough clean water in the tank. "please check the tank" it said.
so i refilled & replaced the tank, and it started working again and went back to cleaning.
i'm slightly miffed i didn't get a "thank you."
LOL!
My kitty, Noodle, used to fetch her eat toy when she was a kitten. Now she’s a mature and dignified 18 months old, and she just catches bugs and eats them. But I did have a cat who would case and fetch the plastic rings from milk cartons.
a question for #CatSky#CatsOfBluesky :
does your cat play fetch?
this is benny, my foster teen, carrying one of her favourite toys to play fetch with: an empty spool of thread.
(the spool was not empty when she first found it. that was a fun spiderweb to come home to.)
The Te Huia train service connecting Auckland and Hamilton just posted its best-ever monthly passenger figures as trial period nears end - proving Luxon wrong again.

#ArtSky, i have a serious question: is it still called a bust even if it's just a head?
secondary comment: has anyone checked the trunk of baby bobby's car?

Reminder that this will probably be an objectionable publication in Aotearoa (and other civilised countries), and any murder-porn fetishist who watches it here could face 14 years in jail.
The government *still* isn’t tracking how often immigration agents detain U.S. citizens.
We are.
500+ Americans have been handcuffed, held at gunpoint or held against their will in Trump’s second term.
Our tally is almost certainly an undercount.

part of the reason koliadych's book pisses me off is because none of her process images are of the same damn painting.

hobson's pledge is running a giant electronic billboard featuring a photo of a smiling Rawiri Waititi with the headline "WHY WON'T CHRIS HIPKINS RULE OUT TE PĀTI MĀORI?" and i can tell i'm not their intended audience because i keep thinking how Waititi looks like someone's awesome uncle. #NZpol
"I'm supposed to be tough. What happens if I faint?"- here's fun footage of Curtis Sliwa & Mayor Mamdani getting their flu shots together, including Mamdani offering to hold Sliwa's hand 😆 (Sliwa takes him up on it!)
(Flu season is approaching and NYers can find free flu shots at nyc.gov/healthmap)
There’s something to be said for how most of the political spectrum can unite around hounding some lesbians over niche drama in their spaces but huge segments of society are silent about pervasive campus rape impacting a huge population of primarily youngwomen
“Simply put, we screwed up,” the company said in a statement.
is there a chatbot out there specializing in corporate apologies? this "we screwed up" language is showing up EVERYWHERE
i am a week behind on my SNW, so this may have already been discussed:
a) was that large a lantern really necessary; and
b) did the writers improperly beg the question too many times for @jacobtlevy.bsky.social to handle?
