Great gig from @tvam.bsky.social at Sneaky Pete's in Edinburgh tonight! Bonus wet reflections on the Cowgate on the way home.
Support was from the very bouncy @softriot.bsky.social. Always turn up for the support act, folks!
The opening titles for season 1 of Human Target, with stirring music from @bearmccreary.bsky.social, are underrated. youtu.be/Y_xFMyhBYx8?...
Watching Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness last week made me think that Sam Raimi would be a good director for a re-make/meta sequel to The Asphyx, tag line: 'More than a myth, more than a maybe'. youtu.be/qXahqEvXOs0?...
I enjoyed Loki more on a second viewing. I think the show works better without having to wait between episodes. #Loki
After watching Avengers: Endgame (I'd forgotten how emotional it is) this evening, I've gone straight on to Loki. Loki feels different to other MCU TV shows; it seems to have a little more heft to it that some other shows lack. #AvengersDoomsday
I think I'll be giving Digger a miss. Based on reviews my instincts on watching the trailers appears to have been borne out.
The upcoming Tom Cruise film Digger has one of the most perplexing trailers I've ever seen. After watching it I have no idea what the film is about. Maybe the reviews, once they come out, will help me make sense of it. #Digger

Watching A House Through Time and I wanted a better look at one of the photographs taken by Archibald Burns in February 1871 of the Edinburgh slum clearances. It's a good photograph but it's amazing that you can zoom in and see the detail of the notice about The Edinburgh Improvement Act so clearly.

I had one last visit to Tapa this evening before it closes. I hope another food business takes on the property next because it's a great dining space.
Sad news that one of my favourite places to eat in Leith, Tapa, is closing for good on 3 October. I've enjoyed a lot of great food there over the years.
Ben Stiller is an absolute master at committing to the bit. See also some of his excellent Oscar presenting skits. youtu.be/XrTuYsldHdk?...

I've never seen Rory Kinnear looking more like his dad.
From the mind of Charlie Brooker, Blackmere is destined to be an "absurd comedy" like no other 😵💫 Here's a sneak peek at the show, coming to Netflix early 2027. Read more: https://www.radiotimes.com/tv/comedy/lena-heady-paddy-considine-cast-charlie-brooker-blackmere-netflix-first-look-newsupdate/

A little disappointed to learn that the TVA was digital and not a matte painting. I know most people don't care, but I love a well-crafted matte.

I knew that Angine de Poitrine were making their US TV debut on The Tonight Show but getting a brand new track, Zugzegk, was a bonus! #AngineDePoitrine youtu.be/38rvtcwhuw4?...
It's not often someone I knew gets an obituary in The Guardian. I didn't know Ally as well as some folk, but that didn't seem to matter. He always had time for a chat and a laugh, often with a generous Long Island iced tea, any time I saw him in The Village. RIP. www.theguardian.com/society/2026...
I don't know if there's signage up but I see the name of the place has now changed to the Westfield St James Quarter. I bet a large proportion of Edinburgh residents still call it the St James Centre!
I'm pretty sure that nobody is going to call it that and the Westfield bit will be dropped in a few years. I think one shopping centre in the middle of Edinburgh pointlessly re-branding every few years is quite enough.
I don't know where the notion that wearing a kilt if you're not Scottish is some kind of cultural appropriation came from. Nobody cares, have at it! www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026...
After seeing the final trailer for Digger I'm still not sold on it. If the film is supposed to have an 'off' vibe then it looks like it's succeeding in spades. #Digger
