#vss365 #journal Today, I finally worked up the courage to walk up to her, say something and smile, I think I smiled and I don’t remember what I said, but it was something. Well, it was a #start.

#vss365 travel splits me in two: the one who goes and the one who stays the one who goes, changes he must, travel demands change the one who stays watches and frets when I return, the two I’s merge usually for the better

#vss365 #MicroFiction #Travel gives me respite. My focus is on: timing, waking, leaving, observing, sleeping. But after a while, fucking grief returns like an uninvited guest, and I have to move on again.

#vss365 I leave home #travel and discover that so much of what I have become is about routine, predictability and comfort and the wish to maintain them

The posts of Bluesky’s #vss365 - the craziest way to #travel! Here and now in one post, 100 years ago in the next! Heaven in one, Hell in another. We laugh, scroll down, and cry. We travel inward to another’s experience, and then we travel outward to the edge of the cosmos.

#taper each day, a little less than the one before but what is lost was never the Self, which becomes more attentive, intense, deep until it loosens its grip, lets go, finally becoming nothing at all #vss365

#vss365 from 0 to 60 #m p h in 4 seconds in the rearview a girl waves with both hands shrinking, shrinking the size of a match flame then the idea of a flame then regret

#vss365 My old man drove trucks for twenty years, sometimes covering five hundred #miles before stopping to sleep in a parking lot All he ever talked about was tires, diesel prices and the time a deer came through the windshield. His philosophy: keep your mouth shut, pay the bills, keep moving.

#vss365 #Slam Strange trip. I drove twenty #miles before realizing the radio announcer was using my mother's voice, complete with the little cough she made before lying. Just outside of Chicago, a street preacher dragged a wooden cross through slush, followed by a dog wearing a paper crown.

#vss365 #kids #questions Mommy, I’m a little worried. Now I don’t think so. I #doubt it, but tell me, are the stars falling? Are they going to fall on us?

#vss365 #UnsentLetters When I tried to hold the sky with my two hands, when I hoped to love you, my #doubt said, “What are you doing? Are you crazy?” My heart said, “Let him try.” And so I write you.

After a year on #Bluesky, I remain 100% #committed to #vss365 -ing. I am waiting for the day that the perfect post comes out of me. Then I will quit, satisfied, completed, fulfilled. Wait! I think this is it!! It’s all that I have been waiting for. And more. So much more! Goodbye all.

#vss365 #dogs Grandpa’s old dog followed him every morning to the corner store. There wasn't much left to either of them. But they were there for each other. #Commitment doesn't always come with speeches or wedding rings. Sometimes it's just an animal waiting outside while you buy cigarettes.

#vss365 #Love #If if we allow ourselves to love someone we are making a #commitment, whether intended or not we’ll be committed in that the person will a l w a y s be a presence if only in our memories, thoughts and dreams

#vss365 the sun and moon appearing, disappearing changing shape yet always returning the most constant most predictable of presences it feels like #commitment

#vss365 I’m thinking it’s love that #fuels our efforts to confront the monumental challenges of young adulthood. Challenges like training for a profession, paying the rent, finding a partner, maintaining a relationship, starting a family, worrying about parents, and on and on and on.

#vss365 I ain’t foolin’ it’s music and beauty that’s #fuelin’ (The above response to today’s prompt, brings back memories of my career as a rapper. My rap name was, “Too Pooped To Pop” Have you ever heard of me?)

#vss365 Listen, I’ve got to tell you that your silence and indifference is just #fueling my anger and resentment. And then you complain that I’m moody and emotional. This hurts.

#QuestionsForVss365ers #questions Is it just me, or does everyone remember those times when you told a joke or did something so funny that you were surprised by the volume, intensity and duration of the laughter it produced? You don’t have to answer if it makes you #nervous.

#vss365 Gregor Samsa was often #nervous when the moon came down to borrow his shadow. The moon always promised to return it by dawn, but it always arrived late, and was often damaged. Once it was stained with tides, smelling of salt and other people's dreams.

#vss365 #Kids #KidsJournal #Words #Feelings #Observations Today I noticed something weird. I noticed that sometimes when I say a word for a feeling, I feel that feeling. Like if I say the word happy, I feel a little happy. And if I say the word nervous, I get #nervous.

#vss365 #CrazyStuff At sunrise, the Sun just stopped mid step and said it wouldn’t shoot another ray until someone came up with a new color name. A child #nervously suggested, “Marvin?” The Sun nodded and tried it on, while the stars looked on, twinkling.

Rachel, our #vss365 host, in today’s prompt is clearly asking us to not only write, but to share something about ourselves :-O Kind of scary, but I’m up for it. I get #nervous when I meet someone for the first time. I think I’m concerned, maybe too concerned, about making a good impression.

#vss365 #prompt #nervous There is an inevitable moment when something we are about to do makes us nervous. It's a universal feeling. Let's share our experiences with this. For me, standing at the start line of any race.

#Writing #Bluesky I spent two hours this morning responding to the #vss365 prompt, #training. I posted three times. I deleted three times. Frustrating, but I’m fine with that. It’s not about writing or posting. It’s about training myself to think, feel, write, evaluate, tinker and persist.

#vss365 #Astrophysics The Moon rides around Mother Earth on #training wheels. Its eyes always towards us, as if seeking praise and reassurance. Each year it moves 1.5 inches further away. If not for the blustery and controlling Sun, it would eventually leave orbit and go off on its own.

#vss365 When our first born was well on his way to completing toilet #training, I walked him to the store. We bought a candy bar to celebrate his recent “accomplishment.” When I paid the cashier, he turned and proudly shouted to those online behind us, “I did poopoo for this!” Applause rang out

#vss365 It was a beautiful morning in the Shire. I spotted Bilbo Baggins walking over the crest of the hill, smiling, humming and wearing green and yellow hobbit #sneakers. And then I woke and wrote this.
