Fast-moving wildfires in Central and Eastern Washington devastated communities around our state. Communities like Adam's have been changed forever. I'm asking the Trump Administration for a Major Disaster Declaration, unlocking critical assistance to help Washingtonians recover and rebuild.

FEMA just made it easier to buy flood insurance. In just minutes you can get a quote and buy a flood insurance policy directly online. Enter basic information about your building and you’ll be on your way to protecting yourself from the nation’s most frequent disaster. www.fema.gov/press-releas...

Only 10 days left to apply for state Individual Assistance through our Military Department if your home was damaged by the fires in Central and Eastern Washington. These funds have helped hundreds of households with immediate needs. Check to see if you qualify:

Central and Eastern Washington experienced some of the most destructive fires we've ever seen in Washington state history. Today, I sent this video to the Trump Administration. We're asking them to grant a Major Disaster Declaration to help these communities recover.

Reminder that unless your local government is testing their own system, the wireless emergency alert system will not be used today on your cell phones.

Participating in the ShakeOut earthquake and tsunami drill on Thursday, October 15? Perfect! Please remember that an alert will NOT be sent out to your cell phone at 10:15 a.m. To learn more about what alerts will be issued, visit mil.wa.gov/news/worlds-...

At about 10:15 a.m., more than 120 Washington tsunami sirens along the inner and outer coast will be tested using the real wailing sound of a tsunami warning. DO NOT CALL 911. EAS will sound on radio & TV. Wireless Emergency Alert text system on cell phones will NOT be tested. Graphic has more.

Lots of folks felt that earthquake yesterday. Had it been stronger, there's a chance people might have fallen and gotten hurt. That's why we suggest people drop to the ground if possible -- an essential part of drop, cover and hold on.

Yesterday afternoon at ~2:05 pm PDT, the Seattle area was shaken up by a magnitude 4.2 earthquake. But this isn't unusual at all! Learn about the three types of earthquakes that can occur in the PNW region ➡️ https://loom.ly/WBQvUo0

Wild to see a video of fish reacting to the earthquake yesterday! Thanks @ptdefiancezoo.bsky.social! How did YOU react? Did you Drop, Cover, and Hold On?

A little unexpected shake-up in Tacoma today! During today’s 4.2 magnitude earthquake, some of our aquarium animals were briefly startled, but everyone is safe and doing well. Most guests and staff didn’t feel the earthquake at all.

Most stories we've heard said this quake was over by the time they knew what it was, and that's okay! Once you realize it's a quake, please react accordingly. Drop, Cover, and Hold On appropriately for your situation! Practice with millions during the #ShakeOut! Register at shakeout.org!
