Happy Birthday Nadia! Here are her 3 petites pièces: youtu.be/F-DInMfRFOI?...
I'm going with the Bells (bells bells bells bells bells bells)
I've decided it's time to work in earnest on a choral/orchestral project. I have two ideas for medium-sized pieces that I've done some work on in the past and might like to pick up again: Idea 1: the Beatitudes in Latin Idea 2: Poe's The Bells Just haven't decided which...

There’s something very moving about the apparent simplicity of Pärt’s music. But the complexity and tension increase as the underlying canon gradually pulls us into a spiral we cannot escape. youtu.be/sp2oxWdRMuk?...

Her Piano Quartet was written in 1908 when she was just 23. It’s written in a late romantic style with flowing tunes and a rich, warm texture. If you haven’t yet discovered her music, this is a beautiful place to start. youtu.be/dZy81a57JYQ?...

A5: If you notice me having trouble with a noisy environment, often the best way to help is just let me deal with it using the methods I've developed over time, and to keep your own noise to a minimum. Making a fuss about it usually just makes things worse for me. #AutChat
Q5: What have you found other people understand or misunderstand about auditory processing issues? #AutChat
A4: Various methods of blocking the noise, earplugs, noise-cancelling headphones, white noise to a certain extent, but then sometimes that bothers me too 🤣😭 In choir I sit a row behind everyone else, which helps too. #AutChat
Q4: What kinds of things do you do to try to make auditory processing easier? For example, lip-reading, avoiding noisy restaurants when possible, using captions, etc. #AutChat
A2: I almost don't have a social life anymore. Being around people is so difficult and exhausting, it's easier not to bother. It's much worse now. I've always been sensitive, but it's been in the last 10 years or so that it's gotten really bad. Also whoops I've been forgetting to tag #AutChat
Q2: What kinds of problems do auditory processing issues cause for you? At home, school, work, socializing, traveling, etc. Has any of this gotten worse (or better) over time? #AutChat
A1: I have a lot of trouble in choir rehearsal, where I alternately need to have full use of my hearing (when we're singing, when the director is talking) and need to block out noise (when anyone else is talking) I've got special adjustable-volume earplugs, but it's still difficult
Q1: In what situations is auditory processing difficult for you? What are those situations like? Is it primarily an issue with understanding speech or are other sounds or auditory input issues as well? #AutChat
A0: Hi, I'm Emily, a composer who hears too much in a very noisy world
Q0: Introduce yourself! Say anything you like about yourself or your interest in #AutChat or in today's topic, auditory processing. Quick reference for this week's #AutChat questions (please wait till they're posted to answer): autchat.com/auditory-pro...
