There was an officer on Red Dwarf with the name ‘Todhunter’ and my 16-year-old brain thought that name was relentlessly badass. kinda want to tap him on the forehead and say ‘caring about language this much is gonna rot your brain, kid. you’ll end up as a weird writer. invent reality tv.’

The entire 40k experience is so immensely stupid that it's fun to write about. Also, there are almost zero current events or political posts in the warhammer 40k bluesky feed. It's also a fun hobby to see cool pictures of other people's painted models and compliment their work!

I really appreciate that about four months ago you said, “hey Bluesky, it’s going to be all warhammer from here on out, hope you like space marines” and then delivered.

One of the most insightful comments about game development came from a former boss. He said “Making a game is like starting a band. You can’t throw money at a new studio with random AAA veterans and expect it to crank out a hit.” 🧵

it’s interesting that so many people are suddenly extremely concerned about women’s sports but can’t tell you anything at all about larry nassar strange, innit?

Ramaswamy has produced an attack ad weaponizing the rape of his opponent, Amy Acton, when she was 12 years old. It features Acton’s mother, who abandoned Acton after she was raped by her step-father, fleeing the state with her husband. Here is the corporate money helping fund that ad.

I started collecting Warhammer 40k earlier this month and I’ve pulled together 2000 points for less than the cost of a PS5. No eBay. No miniswap. The vast majority purchased new. Listen to the Poorhammer Podcast’s episodes about getting into the hobby, they can save you *serious* cash.

Man, I’m gonna be fifty in December. I’m not sure I’m going to read every book I *already own* before I die.

I can safely say I'll never read all the Warhammer books before I die

a $15 raspberry pi zero 2 W is being sold for $85 on amazon because we decided to lash the global economy to a handful of unprofitable AI companies you would think that we would stop doing that by now, but we’re not

(he is insisting on full-size warhammer and his parents are desperately hiring contractors and metal workers to build his ballistus dreadnought in the backyard)

Wild. For the first time since I got into the hobby, I am asking for no warhammer miniatures for christmas from family

Companies also fire people. A lot of them don't build anything. Most of them don't do any research. If @cato.org isn't willing to limit billionaire investment in companies that have employment growth, tangible product and published research, they're being wildly disingenuous.

Most billionaire wealth isn't in yachts or jewelry — that's just a few percent of it. Most is productive business capital: companies that employ people, build things, and fund research. Tax that wealth and you're taxing the businesses that employ us all. Cato's Adam Michel explains.

I've spent a decent amount of my life living aboard, working at a marina and piloting powercraft. I've also served in the USCGAUX. I've seen a lot of weird and dangerous stuff happen on the water. I am not a historian, but I'm certain the RMS Titanic's fate had little to do with rudder authority.

JD Vance on the economy: "You don't turn the Titanic around overnight"

I play 40k and I don’t give two tugs of a dead dog’s cock about warhammer lore — but please don’t discount my ability to bore people on a wide variety of other topics.

CitrusFox@widdlywham.bsky.social

I don't like talking to Warhammer fans because if you ask about one aspect they'll tell you the entire lore to the current day. I've probably heard the lore dozens of times and I still don't like it because it drones on with no real point besides "humans bad" I just disassociate and nod along tbh

I love how my favorite character in Warhammer 40k, a hobby where people collect little army men to the point of sometimes becoming insufferable, is the guy who, in universe, collects little army men to the point of becoming insufferable.

it has been wall-to-wall nonsense from republicans about mamdani and el-sayed but zero republicans believe that doctor oz is leading us to sharia law they’re 100% fine with muslims as long as they’re rich as fuck

A friend got me into 40k through space marine 2 a couple years ago and by far my favorite meme is the idea of big space marines finding fun bouncy pop music and treating it with reverence "Battle brother, have you heard? They recently uncovered a hymn from the Chapel of Roan"

is one or more of your hobbies 50% bullshit? here at games workshop we have a hobby that’s at least 95% bullshit at all times! welcome to fucking warhammer! now buy plastic cut these pieces out and build this thing then prime it and then paint it and then do it over and over until you die

they are not meant to be taken seriously at all I have a landspeeder that has two space marines in it one is flying the other is shooting for reasons beyond rational understanding, *they are both in powered armor.* the entirety of 40k is deeply unserious this is a beer and pretzels game

Let's go, Sam Forstag! That's how you stand up for trans people on the national stage. If congressional candidates in western Montana—one of the most competitive House races in the entire country—can stand up for trans folks in every aspect of our lives, democrats everywhere should take note.
