I’ve had doubts about the effectiveness of the US justice system, but, seeing what Trump’s unleashed, I am disheartened to learn how many people would happily commit crimes since they now think there are no consequences. And they’re the ones who scream the loudest about law & order.

1st Axiom of Fascism: The beatings will continue until morale improves. Trump’s 1st corollary: I will continue to start wars until you give me the Nobel Peace Prize.

FBI also concludes: there were no moon landings bc it’s green cheese & would melt; Trump’s greater than Jesus; JFK had himself assassinated; the world is flat; war is peace; freedom is slavery; and ignorance is strength. Finally, sex doesn’t exist bc Kash never gets any. apnews.com/article/jeff...

So if he doesn’t get it by virtue he’ll get it by extortion. I guess that’s better than invading Norway and forcing them to give him one. I hope our next president (if we ever have another) has the decency to give it back to her. www.nytimes.com/2026/01/09/w...

They don't have capacity to terrorize more than 2-3 cities at a time. Which means they rotate teams to new cities without relief. Which means consistent resistance by fresh activists in each new city will break them over time. Which means if you're city's not occupied, rest up and get ready.

@nytimes.com “Changed course” my ass. This was the plan all along. Has as anybody attempted to talk with the contractor and asked to see the original RFP, the proposal and any change orders? You know, real journalism, not stenography. www.nytimes.com/live/2025/10...

If it turns out that Kirk was killed because he was not extreme enough, this is the GOP karmic nightmare. These are the people they armed and these are the people they riled up. The GOP has clearly been afraid of their wrath for years and now their fears have come true.

Trumpism: Government of the insignificant by the insufferable for the insatiable.

This may be idiosyncratic, but I find the word “pulchritude” very strange in that its sound suggests some nefarious behavior or attitude, where its actual meaning is “physical beauty.”

I hope the @nytimes.com is proud of its role attacking Clinton & sanewashing Trump in the 2016 election & it’s ongoing sanewashing since then - with the occasional, cautious-to-the-point-of-timidity, token critiques. I wonder how much longer it will have any journalistic independence.

Governor Abbot has filed a registration to trademark it as Texas Freedom Sores.

Time for another of Susan Collins’ strongly worded letters. I’m sure it will be just as effective as all her previous ones. At least it’s more than her colleagues in the Senate GOP Caucus will be able to muster.

Meta sees AI “users” filling FB and Instagram. A bot, given a personality and a backstory, with access to all your FB data and postings, being clever, funny, always there and deeply “interested” in you is profoundly dangerous. Scams & influencers on steroids at least. www.ft.com/content/9118...

Once upon a time such desperate BS would have been unthinkable. But the NC legislature thinks if they can get *anything* to the state Supreme Court that it will rule for them bc: 1. The SC is GOP partisan; 2. It wants to be more partisan. www.nytimes.com/2024/12/09/u...
