The article tests whether climate denialism mediates conservatism's link to support for three solar geoengg technologies across 13 countries. It finds that opposition is largely denial-driven and, once controlled, varies by country and technology rather than a stable ideology.

This article examines climate disinformation as moral distortion through Moore’s CO2 claims and BP’s carbon-footprint campaign. It is defined as selective framing by speakers posing as trustworthy inquirers, distinct from factual denial, moral corruption and greenwashing.

This brief report conceptualises why nature-climate integration, now prominent in the KMGBF and NDCs, systematically turns into sectoral practice once commitments are implemented. It frames this as an operationalisation paradox driven by divergent goal-setting and implementation logics.

Taylor and Lyons qualitatively study Dark Mountain’s narratives and uncivilising practices through a decade of publications and interviews. They find that its postapocalyptic orientation, not only its ecocentrism, generates experimental subjectivities that contest reformist environmentalism.

This introduction to SI reconstructs ecocide's shift from an anti-imperialist critique of wartime destruction to a proposed international crime. It argues that this legal turn depoliticises the concept, limiting its capacity to challenge structural, colonial, and capitalist harm.

Using item response theory on a Swiss sample, the authors evaluate 36 established items and refine a nine-item environmental concern scale. It better distinguishes high concern and outperforms them in predicting behaviour and policy support.

This report challenges the assumption that hope is necessary for climate action, arguing that uncritical hope can sustain the status quo and depoliticise transformation. False hopes, such as hydrogen aviation, can delay action, while pessimism and hopelessness may open space for radical responses.

Using Nanjing’s waste sorting, the article develops a responsibility-capacity alignment framework. It proposes a relational view of state capacity: early govt alignment succeeded, but citizen responsibility without capacity produced fatigue.

This article proposes a multiscalar framework assessing climate politics through four justice approaches across international, national, and civil-society scales. In Denmark, it finds moral leadership masks eco-modernist, growth-oriented limits, while civil society contests official framings.

The article uses an exploratory case study of Israel to examine how naturalgas discoveries affected democratic institutions. It shows that liberal democracies may face a resource curse through legal corruption, media capture, and state capture, contributing to democratic erosion.

New article! State narratives of shale gas development: evidence from a text-as-data study of the United States and China by Kate Hua-Ke Chi. @katehkchi.bsky.social doi.org/10.1080/0964...

This article uses text-as-data methods on 225 US and Chinese government statements (2010-24) to trace how state narratives legitimise shale gas. It finds shared security and economic frames, a co-occurring clean-fuel claim, China’s air-quality response, and US fracking as energy diplomacy.

Using inter-county data and fieldwork, the article shows China's horizontal environmental capacity is produced by vertical authority. Its novel finding is relational, accountability, enforcement, and transactional coordination that is more connected yet ad hoc and top-down dependent.

The article traces how just transition evolved and examines its uses across the Global South. Its conceptual map identifies three overlapping approaches—technocratic, grassroots and systemic—and shows how the last exposes structural barriers to justice.

The article uses policy analysis to CCS returning to German clim policy, focusing on whether its use should be limited to hard-to-abate emissions. It shows that divided envtll groups, a fading public sense of conditional support, and a drawnout process led to lock-in risks.

This discussion maps the rapid global uptake of ecocide law and defends criminalisation as a practical response to a major legal gap. It is an insider legislative perspective showing ecocide law’s systemic effects on norms and corporate decisions.

This article examines how actors in Nepal navigate international reporting demands and domestic constraints in national climate-adaptation M&E. It shows everyday repairwork produces theatrical performances that build legitimacy and sustain authority.
