It has no practical impact, but adding a name to my "People the World Would be Better Off Without" list does make me feel a little better.

If nothing else, I've definitively proven that action-at-a-distance doesn't work for murdering someone with hate.

I realize I’m likely on the losing side of the AI fight. That doesn’t mean I’m on the _wrong_ side.

The number of Republican Party officials who will immediately volunteer to enforce the ban on trans athletes by doing genital inspections just shows how dedicated they are to their agenda. Which is raping children, by the way.

It's so weird to know that the entire Trump cabinet is a bunch of sweaty, too-online dorks, and the only reason they're all doing steak-and-sauerkraut instead of Kool-Aid pineapples is because they don't follow anybody fun.

One fun thing to do on a Saturday morning — or anytime! — is shift the Overton Window. Only three state political parties support any form of Guaranteed Minimum Income, and they’re probabaly not the ones you expect. Send ‘em a message! rgmii.org/blog/why-are...

rgmii.orgWhy Are Politicians Afraid of Direct Cash?Guaranteed Minimum Income works. Unfortunately, the 2024 National Democratic and Republican Party Platforms do not mention guaranteed income or any other kind of direct cash transfers, despite widespr...

It’s impressive — in an unmitigated disaster kinda way — that Trump is bad at _everything_, from war to pool resurfacing. He’s a jackhole-of-all-trades, a Renaissance man of incompetence, the anti-Midas whose touch turns evening to shit.

My boss has become an LLM proxy. A problem comes in -- a ticket, an internal report, whatever -- and he copy-and-pastes it into whichever model he's using this week, and then copy-and-pastes the result into Slack. I don't think he reads any of it.

The thing that makes me sad is that Yankees fans are happy. Mets fans are probably just confused, because they don’t understand what the opposite of “lose” is.

I wonder what New Yorkers consider to be the greatest city in the world? If only they’d tell us! Curse their demure reserve!

“That’s a gap we could proactively surface.” “Hold up. I’m sorry. Does that mean, ‘That’s something we could talk about?’” “… Yes.” “OK. Just checking.” “…” “You sure did sound smart, though.”

If a billionaire is a policy failure, a trillionaire is a civilizational one. One person hoarding that much wealth in a world where people are in need — hungry, sick, homeless — is the end product of a society undergoing the complete collapse of human decency. A trillionaire is an obscenity.

My mayor Muslim! My bagel Jewish! My Christian believe that their savior come back alive! Knicks in five? … Look, OK, it lacks some of the elegance of the original, but I’ve got a bunch of t-shirts here that I can’t sell anymore.

Hey, everybody! Welcome! Remember two years ago when we promised a bunch of features we never shipped, and a year ago when we blew up the UI for all your apps? Wait ‘til you see what we be got planned this year!

[A sunny montage of a handsome older man, clearly at peace with himself and his life, enjoying activities with his loved ones. A snappy, upbeat jingle plays.] Nifurazosin, yeah! [Last five seconds, urgently:] Nifurazosin is an eye injection. A literal fucking needle in your fucking eye.

I’m still going through the stages of grief for my career and my industry: denial, anger, bargaining, anger, depression, anger, acceptance, and anger.

Spencer Pratt has promised he’ll leave LA if he loses the mayoral race. So he does have a plan to improve the city after all.

The tickets are ridiculously expensive and security is going to be a hassle, but the chance to scream at Donald Trump where he’ll actually hear it is worth the price. I understand there will be a basketball game going on, too.

Fun fact: If, in Apple Mail, you turn on Connection Doctor logging and then forget about it for four or five years, you will eventually Have a Problem.

“Hey, Siri, shuffle The Beths.” “Now playing ‘Bo Bichette Shows What the Mets Have Been MISSING! | One Great Game, or Something More?’ by Locked On Mets from the Locked On Podcast Network.” [Very long pause.] “… Whuh?” “Nobody at Apple uses me. It’s the only explanation I have.”

[Click.] [Tan on tan background, with serif fonts, and tiny all-caps monospaced metadata in the header. Post is divided into long sections, with subheads and bullets.] Oh, I see where _this_ is going. [Back.]

Trump is bragging that his long, wet channel can easily fit even the biggest domestic erection. I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m trying to delete it.

Sent a message to my boss yesterday, basically begging him not to go forward with the slop-coded, unreviewed, under-test, overly-complicated changes to the new version, added specifically for the company’s biggest client. This isn’t so much a “No” as a “Fuck you.”

There are apparently sports other than baseball and something called “basketball” is having its World Series. Cute! I like the tall guy who cries. I like Zohran Mamdani. I think the name “Kickerbockers” is funny. I hate seeing NY fans happy. So, go… Spurs? Is that right? “Spurs”?

Someone installed Claude on the Windows build machine at work, so they could prompt it to run the compile script instead of double-clicking on the icon.

Tonight, Nick Bilton will be visited by three ghosts, each of whom will — in turn — show him his past, his present, and a cankanerous essay about pencil erasers.

Trump loves his official second-term portrait, and keeps putting it on everything — money, passports, the Justice Department. But the only thing I see is the flashlight under his chin, to make him look imposing as he glowers at the camera, like original-series Baltar.

Is it a crime to induce system-wide economic collapse at the civilizational level? The answer we came up with in 2008 was “No,” but I feel like maybe we should revisit that in the next couple of months. We have to be able to charge them with _something_.

Gotta admit, I didn’t foresee a time when the economics of NFTs would seem sensible and clear-headed.

I sure hope every musician backing out of Trump’s birthday party is prepared to be indicted by the Justice Department.

“The influence of being just a single dollar over the poverty line — again, only $1,289 per month [per family, on average] — literally saves lives.” The world can be a better place. All it takes is the will. rgmii.org/blog/one-dol...

rgmii.orgOne Dollar Above PovertyFrom April 2022 to March 2024, 76 families with young children in Yolo County, California participated in a Basic Income study that brought family income a single dollar above the California poverty l...

I’ve been reading some late-60s / early-70s science fiction, and a startling amount of comes down to: “We found a new way to fuck.”

The best part about so many people in tech crawling up their own assholes is that they may just wink out of existence.

Homicides in Los Angeles are at their lowest level since 1966, and all the big-name mayoral candidates are pushing for more cops. _More_ cops. Because the LAPD is so famously trustworthy. If these dumb motherfuckers spend more money on cops, I’m going to make sure they need it.

I’d guess that it’s a proxy for being crueler to the homeless, except their second plank is to be crueler to the homeless
