To celebrate Julia and Boryana’s visit from their international fellowships, we took the opportunity to tee off with a round of mini‑golf ⛳. @clauslamm.bsky.social took the lead at the final hole with a spectacular hole-in-one - congrats and thanks to everybody that joined 🥇🤝

The findings show that phrases such as “he or she” did not significantly reduce the tendency to associate political leaders more strongly with men than women. The study points to the complexity of addressing gender stereotypes across different cultural and linguistic contexts.

We found reduced motor SOD and increased cognitive egocentric bias in BPD—but not a global SOD deficit. Effects were selective and context-dependent. A great example of what big team science and cross-disciplinary collaboration can make possible.

I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to bring our basic research into a clinical forum and to see how much potential there is for dialogue between basic and applied science. Huge thanks to our moderators P. Luyten & C. De Meulemeester, and to everyone who supported us from the audience & afar.

Together with my wonderful colleagues, we explored different facets of Self-Other Distinction (SOD) — from motor and cognitive SOD to everyday difficulties and its relevance across conditions such as Borderline Personality Disorder and schizophrenia.

What a great summary of useful advices on computational reproducibility. Ana was THE person who introduced me to GitHub and version control and I cant thank her enough for it!

Workshop done 😀 since I anyway put together a list of resources, I'm going to share it in this thread. So here we go, my top recommendations for how to improve computational reproducibility of your work

I am so proud and honored that our paper received this award. @scanunit.bsky.social :)

Congratulations to the project “The Advantage of Big Team Science: Lessons Learned From Cognitive Science,” which received🏆2026 SIPS commendation! It offers a synthesis of strategies for successfully navigating the BTS landscape, including logistical, ethical, and epistemological challenges.

Ever wondered how the current heatwave might be affecting you 🥵? Our PI @clauslamm.bsky.social starred in a research spotlight by @univie.ac.at on that exact topic, discussing how heat affects our 🧠 and our 🧍. Video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=DEt2... Article: rudolphina.univie.ac.at/vom-umgang-m...

In addition to a hiring PhD in ~October & hopefully some PhDs and postdocs ~February, if anyone would like to work with me as part of eg a Marie-Curie or something similar, please do get in touch. Topics include depression, classification, measurement, systems, time-series, & theory building.

First and foremost, I would like to sincerely thank Jennifer Ebner-Daigle for guiding me through my first steps in teaching. I am also deeply grateful to IES Abroad Vienna, which provided me with a platform to grow as a teacher and supported the transition of the course into a new setting.

I am especially thankful to all current & former students, who have not only learned from me but have also expanded the boundaries of my knowledge through their curiosity and engagement. Your enthusiasm and motivation to learn continue to inspire me. Stay curious and keep learning 💙

Social cognition field is hampered by conceptual fragmentation and methodological shortcomings, which slow progress and translational impact. Core theoretical problems: a) the absence of shared definitions or consensus on the boundaries of SC, b) overlapping labels (the “jingle-jangle” fallacy).

Laboratory tasks lack ecological validity: passive & non-interactive, failing to capture real-world reciprocity --> shift toward second-person paradigms, VR, & mobile-based measures. Computational modeling can help open the “black box” by testing which mechanisms best explain tasks behavior.

How will three groups of psychologists perform in an escape room? By assessing each other's arousal or debating whether frustration is a state or a trait? We recently conducted this bold introspective case study. Preliminary results suggest all groups did great. Thanks to everyone who joined 🤓

If you want to know more, then check out Scirenity: scirenity.com I now run more than a dozen science platforms and tools aimed to boost better science: scirenity.com/platforms It's work in progress, but some of these tools are getting quite good.

scirenity.comScirenity — Better science. Better tools. Doing more good. Doing good better.Scirenity builds public platforms for research and teaching — and partners with universities, labs, and teams to extend them, build new tools, and run hands-on workshops.

What makes me happy every day? My birds :) Just look at them! Please support wildlife in your region: Do not mow your lawn too often (or better, not at all), plant native trees, and provide animals with fresh water on hot days (and always clean your feeder).@birdlifeglobal.bsky.social @birdlife.at

I agree that we should not. Yet the country of my birth is currently invading an independent sovereign country. There may be peace someday, but that will not bring back the people who have been killed. Do I want to collaborate with everyone? Yes.

Should we boycott researchers in large research projects? In this post I argue we should not. open.substack.com/pub/rolfzwaa...

Do I oppose the war? Yes — but I also recognize that I have the privilege to say so because I am now a national of another country. Openly opposing the war from within can be dangerous. What I want is for us to remain part of the international scientific community.

Science, dialogue, and collaboration should continue to build bridges even in difficult times. At the same time, I also understand if some people feel unable or unwilling to collaborate under the current circumstances. Too much pain & loss have been caused, & those feelings can't simply be ignored.

Thank you, @rolfzwaan.bsky.social, for inviting me to be part of this episode. I can talk for hours about Big Team Science, and I truly appreciated the opportunity to do so here. It was a real pleasure discussing the advantages & the challenges that come with working at scale.
