Toronto needs a better ABC as @damienmoule.bsky.social pointed out when they first arrived on the scene.

To my friends on the right: you can’t win without a message for downtown and old Toronto. Chow dominated downtown and competed in the suburbs. To my friends on the left: be magnanimous. Some triumphalism is unbecoming. Take the other’s frustrations seriously, and you’ll keep winning. (12/12)

10. We need greater performance and accountability from the city bureaucracy. Too many problems come down to operational failures, unnecessary processes, and costs that deliver little public value. This should anger people across the political spectrum. (11/12)

8. Let’s be bolder about pedestrian streets. Church Street was a modest start, but packed street festivals show the demand. Ossington, Augusta, Church and others could follow Montreal’s lead at relatively little cost. Toronto is a city, and we should act like one. (9/12)

9. Let’s get the small things right. More trees everywhere (treemaxxing!), better paving and enforcement of sidewalk restoration rules so contractors stop leaving asphalt patches. Relatively inexpensive changes could make our neighbourhoods much nicer. (10/12)

6. I’d love a much more ambitious waterfront vision connecting Exhibition Place, Ontario Place, Billy Bishop, the Islands, Queens Quay, East Harbour, Ookwemin Minising and the Port Lands. The opportunity is far greater than the separate projects we’re planning, and I worry we’ll miss it. (7/12)

7. Despite the campaign tension, Bradford had some good ideas worth pursuing: platform screen doors on Lines 1 and 2 as we prepare for subway automation, and dynamic/adaptive traffic signals that could relieve congestion at relatively modest cost. Take them! (8/12)

4. I’d encourage the mayor to work with her allies in labour to speed up day-to-day construction delivery. Endless delays and disruption are frustrating, and surely there must be faster ways to get things done. (5/12)

5. On bike lanes, let’s stop fighting one street at a time and agree on what a complete network should look like: closing gaps, making it work for all road users and considering raised lanes or other compromises if that’s what consensus will take. We could advance that vision in year one. (6/12)

2. Finish MTSA rezoning. Make fourplexes and sixplexes work with faster permits, better built form, parking and tenure options. Ward-by-ward sixplex and retail deals set a bad precedent. For reforms to endure, people must see growth improve neighbourhoods, especially in skeptical areas. (3/12)

3. In that vein, the city’s approach to preapproved housing designs has been mediocre, and I worry it could discredit the idea. Let’s develop a wide range of beautiful, adaptable and financially viable designs for multiplexes and small apartments. (4/12)

1. On homelessness and addictions, a major bottleneck is mental health and treatment capacity. I’d love to see the mayor bring the province and Ottawa together to fund new facilities and operations across Ontario. The public wants those suffering to get the help they need, with compassion. (2/12)

Congratulations to Olivia Chow on her hard fought re-election as Mayor! Kudos to Brad Bradford for running a competitive campaign and for the grace he showed tonight. Thank you to everyone who put their name forward to run for as a school board trustee, and for council, it takes a lot! (1/2)

Finally, congratulations to Curran Stikuts for his election in Toronto Centre (my ward). Torontos problems barely compare to the potential of this beautiful city, let’s keep working at it! Onwards and upwards 🚀 (2/2).

Regardless of who you vote for today, Toronto, get out there and exercise that right! No matter who wins, Toronto has a bright future ahead, and all of its problems are solvable. We should be optimistic about the future here! (1/3)

I hope the Bradford and Chow camps use this campaign to understand what it will mean to bring the city together. Take from each other’s best ideas and approaches, learn from the criticism you’ve received, and remember your responsibility to represent all of us well. (2/3)

At the end, encourage your supporters to show magnanimity and grace toward whoever wins or loses. We all want a better city. Polling shows Torontonians want city council to move faster, reform more seriously, and try more. Let’s do that 🚀 Happy Election Day! (3/3)

The debate about public safety in Toronto’s mayoral race is about more than crime data. Disorder caused by mental health, addictions, and other issues makes an impact on our quality of life. We can be compassionate while upholding public order! My latest: www.thestar.com/opinion/cont...

thestar.comFixing public disorder in Toronto doesn’t mean choosing between compassion and having higher standardsWe can make Toronto safer while also looking after the vulnerable.

I’m looking forward to joining @carastern.bsky.social and the Missing Middle podcast for a live conversation on my run for Ontario Liberal leader. Join in at noon tomorrow! Should be fun :)

Today I am ending my campaign. I am grateful to everyone who shared our belief that Ontario Can Still Win. This is just the end of the beginning. I am also proud to endorse Lee Fairclough for Ontario Liberal leader and Premier of Ontario.

The addiction and homelessness that is happening in this province is a complete disgrace. We need to focus on building capacity in our system – so that when someone wants help, it's actually available for them.

We cannot have more leaders who serve word salad and a side of sloppy short-term thinking. Our next leader needs to take risks and offer a better vision for the future of Ontario if we're going to win.

It's time to end Ontario's era of "Tall and Sprawl". Our archaic building code rules have resulted in housing that is uglier, more expensive, and with fewer units that make sense for families. By changing the rules, we can build communities more beautifully and affordably.

When it comes to housing, we have to do the big things.

How do you create resiliency in a smaller economy? Build things that the world needs and cannot easily get elsewhere.

Yesterday, I was asked by the Star for comments on privatizing airports, including Pearson. Please find my statement in the captured text. In sum: based on what I’ve seen, I do not support privatization of existing public assets, even as I support more private investment in new infrastructure.

Ontario should be the best place in the world to be a student and build a future. That means forgiving OSAP for graduates who stay, building more student housing to bring down rent, and growing a stronger economy with real opportunity for young people.

Northern Ontario has immense promise. But too many communities still ride the boom and bust of commodities. To develop a stronger North: - Move provincial jobs north - Invest in healthcare - Build better roads and rail - Make it easier for people to stay and build a life

You don’t have to sit on the sidelines and hope I win the Ontario Liberal Leadership. If you’re 14+ and live in Ontario, you can help make it happen. I’m the only option offering an ambitious future for Ontario, and the only one who can break Doug Ford’s coalition. Sign up at ericforolp.ca/join

Thank you @ericlombardi.ca. We're looking forward to hearing similar statements from the other OLP leadership candidates.

Why is Doug Ford fighting with Toronto over bike lanes? The city has already invested heavily in cycling infrastructure, and Bike Share Toronto is at record-high ridership. His plan will cost taxpayers across the province millions and won’t do anything to improve congestion.
