American's are doing their best with art fair, No Kings dance parties with strongly worded posters. What else can we do? Be like France?

Ron Filipkowski@ronfilipkowski.bsky.social

This is not how American democracy should function. It’s getting worse every election, not better. I know constitutional amendments are difficult, but it seems like there should be a bipartisan supermajority of citizens who say enough with this stuff.

If we see the Trump phenomenon as a religion and cult, then his follower's behavior makes sense. Religion is full of contradictions to reality and excuses how god works in mysterious ways. We must combat Trumpism the same as we confront religion if we want to deconvert before the Kool-aid kicks in.

Ron Filipkowski@ronfilipkowski.bsky.social

Seriously, how dumb to you have to be to sit there and believe this shit? Being a Trump supporter requires you to eagerly embrace a torrent of lies day after day as your dystopian reality.

Since Trump, elections haven't been about what makes good public policy. Elections are popularity, reality tv show contests. It's why I quit writing essays in favor (or not) of particular policies.

It would be great if the media in interviews could ask El-Sayed about issues most American voters care about that affect their daily lives, which he talks about every day and has made the centerpiece of his campaign, instead of endless questions about Israel and podcasters.

Watching the Republican Jackass senators like Moreno and Hawley (among others) go after Fauci as they did, I will always wonder why anyone ever thought giving government this much power is a good idea.

Rand Paul's political career demonstrates the problem with the desire to "get the right people in." Many may begin with worthy intentions but the power of the position changes them into kings. Lord Acton was right.

What I Told the Baltics about Donald Trump 1/ Back from Finland where I spoke to intelligence officers, diplomats, etc from the Baltics. I told them what what most American outlets still won't say: Donald Trump is an asset of Russian intelligence. open.substack.com/pub/craigung...

I was concerned about AI about ten years ago but after yelling GET HUMAN over and over before talking to a bone machine wrapped in a meat suit, I'm getting on board with whatever John Connor has in mind.

While Republicans build an army and corner us into serfdom, America's best response is Saturday afternoon street fair, #NoKings dance parties. No amount of voting will change this. There's only one solution but no one wants to hear my plea for a new Thomas Jefferson with some imported Robespierre.

LOOKING FOR… Recommendations on the best people with whom to connect about to sue the federal government to end the income tax to recoup monies to stop funding the Trump goons and keep my family afloat.

LOOKING FOR… Recommendations on the best people with whom to connect about suing the federal government to recoup monies on raised gas prices due to incompetence.

This kind of talk is for the Republican Cult. It's religious "facts" told despite what everyone can see isn't true for themselves. Faith is a helluva drug.

SCALISE: We've delivered. Remember that 2 years ago, we were paying almost $6 a gallon. Right now it's in the $3s KERNEN: When were we paying $6? SCALISE: 2.5 years ago K: That's not right S: We are lowering inflation K: We're actually above where we were then. 2 years ago the average was $3.65

Alternative facts strike again!

For those in the back, Republican policy is for laws to be for us plebs. While any member of the Republican Party may do as they please.

Katie Phang@katiephang.bsky.social

Every day the Trump DOJ continues to violate the Epstein Files Transparency Act. If *you* violated a federal law, you’d be in trouble. Why isn’t the Trump DOJ being held to account for breaking the law?

The reason Republicans can say things like this while supporting Epstein's #1 fanboy is because laws and morals only apply to us plebs.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Rep. Andy Ogles on Eric Swalwell: "Let's hang him. Rapists should be hung, period."

It shouldn't go unnoticed the reason we had the first Trump Administration was because millions of Americans wanted to punish the country for having a black president. And the reason we got a second Trump Administration was because the one before tried to be inclusive. Says a lot about Americans.

But could we have $2 gas instead?

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump: “I am pleased to announce that TODAY my Admin officially filed plans to the highly respected Commission for what will be the GREATEST and MOST BEAUTIFUL Triumphal Arch, anywhere in the World. This’ll be a wonderful addition to the DC area for all Americans to enjoy for many decades to come!”

I'm thinking two possibilities. 1) These are stock market pump and dump strategies to enrich himself and cronies. 2) Complete incompetence. #2 Seems most likely but there's plenty of evidence Trump gangsters have been financially benefitting.

Ron Filipkowski@ronfilipkowski.bsky.social

We’ve been doing this same thing for 15 months. On tariffs, Panama Canal, Greenland, Canada, Nobel Prize, law firms, media companies, state govts, on & on. Trump makes crazy threats & ultimatums. Causes chaos. Backs down. Causes more chaos. Pointing that out isn’t provoking him into doing worse …

This is how all government works. It breaks your legs then gives you crutches and says, "See? If it wasn't for us you couldn't walk." The Pentagon is just another government program but in fatigues.

$2 million per ship — to cross a Strait that was free six weeks ago. @nytimes.com www.nytimes.com/2026/04/06/w...

More than likely, this is the plan. Let's hope this is the plan.

Trump will announce that he is not going to bomb after all, because the Iranians have promised to reopen Hormuz. This part is a lie, but Trump insiders will be able to make a lot of money when the price of oil drops dramatically.

This is always the Republican response to anything Trump. A "gee whiz" and a whataboutism. Remember these enablers and apologists. There's no more Nazi war criminals to hunt but when MAGA is finally over, those with the experience can train their sites on this cult. Keep those lists.

I reiterate that it's only because of his enablers and apologists. They need to be remembered when this is over. And tried accordingly.

Hamilton Nolan@hamiltonnolan.bsky.social

I understand the impulse not to let this guy's statements dictate the news cycle but the fact that he can say shit like this and it barely causes a ripple in the media is a key to his ability to maintain power. Constantly pushing the bar of normality downwards, no pressure to take responsibility.

Correct. Without the enablers, he's just the guy outside a convenience store yelling nonsense.

Chris Murphy@chrismurphyct.bsky.social

If I were in Trump's Cabinet, I would spend Easter calling constitutional lawyers about the 25th Amendment. This is completely, utterly unhinged. He's already killed thousands. He's going to kill thousands more.

In the Before Times, this would be from the guy shaking a pencil cup at you outside the convenience store. Today, he's been propped up in kingly robes by millions of enablers. They are the problem because without them, he's just the pencil guy.

Ron Filipkowski@ronfilipkowski.bsky.social

Another beautiful Easter message from the President who loves Jesus with all his heart and soul.

The party that believes in a Jewish preacher Walking Dead prologue is ripe for all kinds of zany claims.

Rightwing dudes: "Women shouldn't be in leadership. Women shouldn't vote. They're not rational like men." Also, somehow, rightwing dudes: "The hand of God teleported me to a Waffle House."

Reupping this: With the USA taking Venezuela then striking Iran, I find myself returning to the theory of Peak Oil to explain American behavior. With a criminal enterprise in charge, enriching themselves and hoarding resources has serious explanatory power. Perhaps an artificial peak was the goal.

1/ Goldman Sachs analysts report that the biggest oil crisis in history is about to hit globally, with profound and highly destructive consequences. A new report asks ""Are We Running Out of Oil?", and concludes that the answer is yes. ⬇️

Trump: “Remember when I gave Iran ten days to MAKE A DEAL or OPEN UP THE HORMUZ STRAIT. Time is running out - 48 hours before all Hell will reign down on them. Glory be to GOD! President DONALD J. TRUMP”
