This feels like forgotten media. Watched this in college, don’t remember much but at the time I found it insightful. Bet it’s aged terribly.

I'm guessing pretty much no one reading this has ever heard of Shijiazhuang, a city of over 11 million people. China is big! When I lived there it was also one of the 10 most polluted cities in the world. Probably took some years off my life.

E@esf007.bsky.social

Been doing a fun mental exercise of trying to list out all the cities I've spent time in in my life, from most time to least. Rough draft so far: KC Des Moines Shijiazhuang Chicago Minneapolis STL Omaha Cedar Rapids Beijing Quad Cities Milwaukee Sioux Falls Phoenix LA Dallas Las Vegas D.C. Houston

Mass Effect fans have successfully crowdfunded to throw up #SaveMassEffect billboards outside of EA's headquarters, its closing Edmonton office, and The Game Awards following the shutdown of BioWare. https://kotaku.com/savemasseffect-mass-effect-billboard-ea-hq-game-awards-2000750281

Maybe I'm just a cold cynical bastard but when I see stuff like this or whatever the latest petition is gamers are signing I just roll my eyes.

- Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy - Control Resonant - Final Fantasy Resonance How did we get three big games in three months that use “resonance” in the title? Bizarre.

Yikes. “Next week we will go into more details about the future” doesn’t inspire confidence.

I know we see posts like this every week now and whatever but you have to drop your jaw every so often at these total freaks.

cool, cool

Half my feed right now is people vague posting about sports. Need a magic mute button for this.

You Can See Everything is very good. I was distracted for like 10 minutes after the shower bit 😬

Oh my god please yes we need one more crazy Alien movie from Ridley Scott and Michael Fassbender

DVD Menus@dvdmenus.bsky.social

I kinda love Ridley Scott’s commitment to not giving the Alien fanbase what they want As a Prometheus sicko, I’m stoked

Sooo just booted up my Xbox and they automatically made my custom background Modern Warfare 4. An ad. That’s really fucked up.

Ahh you have to turn off “Event Themed Backgrounds” first. A nice euphemism for ads.

Say what you will about COD (and there's plenty to be said) but no one else is making FPS campaigns like this anymore. Battlefield 6 tried and it sucked ass.

E@esf007.bsky.social

I'm roughly halfway through the campaign and it seems pretty solid. An early John Wick-style mission is very fun and I'm currently in one of their big "open-world" missions that seems cool. Most other missions have been decently average.

I can't say I have much of an opinion either way on the use of Korea as a setting. I need to seek out some writing from Korean gamers, would love to see those perspectives.

Rolling credits on Control Resonant. Fun but flawed game. Enjoyed Control and AW2 more but a new Remedy game is still a treasure.

I’m mad at current EA but maybe more mad at the EA that forced BioWare to try and make Dragon Age a multiplayer thing. Feels like the real beginning of the end. And even with the bullshit the team managed to put out a great, albeit imperfect, game in DA Veilguard.

A lot of people are gonna have to reckon with this very soon

I know saying this on this site is likely to get some REACTIONS. But... AI tools are REALLY good at coding now, and the more I dig in, the more I'm convinced that, barring costs skyrocketing, this is just going to be how things work moving forward across software/game dev/modding, etc.

[RETURN OF THE JEDI] Worse, the bravado is gone from Han Solo; this sad palooka is so callow he seems to have regressed. Leia, older and sleeker now, looks at him affectionately, like an indulgent mother who has learned to live with her son’s dopeyness. (1983)

Sony is considering releasing all 4 ‘BEATLES’ biopics on the same day in April 2028. Another idea being considered is offering a 4-pack of tickets to encourage fans to buy tickets to all 4 films at once. (Source: www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie...)

I think there’s a kernel of truth to the notion that “games media” at large is overly dismissive of Call of Duty and chooses to ignore the nuanced ways the games change year over year, or what the developer’s goals are. But also that’s what happens when you pump one out every year since 2005.

Obviously in recent years the Xbox/BDS stuff and the introduction of AI slop shit doesn’t help!

Hell yeah. I’m hopeful the Elden Ring movie will be decent but I want to see Garland back in sci-fi.
