Since the big 3.0 multilingual update Luminous users in the Microsoft Store have expanded from 50 countries to 81! I don't have stats on Linux or self-installed versions obviously, but that's ok. I'm happy more people are enjoying it.

Mostly performance optimization and I did some more behind-the-scenes refactoring in to standalone crates. #BuildInPublic

Luminous 3.2 is out. Smoother WebDAV streaming, your songs stay put when an external drive goes missing, faster startup on big libraries, and sharper artist photos with no setup. What's new: www.reddit.com/r/LuminousMu...

Started watching #Carrie last night. It is so good. Great casting that's not just Flanagan's core troupe that are always great, but I'm happy to see Midthunder in there. Every character feels real and deep. I found the scene with Carrie and counsellor Morton so touching.

Squeezing in a small update before heading to Montreal for a week vacation

"Every error discussed in this essay was something hiding in plain sight that we didn’t know how to read, or that our tools read incorrectly."

Very happy with version 3.0. I like how the app is shaping up and I'm still eager to work on it. Going to tackle portable music players next. #BuildInPublic

Huh. Steam doesn't recognize the new BC time zone. Seems to be because Steam’s UI is built on Chromium (CEF/React), and the bundled timezone mapping database (ICU/CLDR) does not have a mapping for the newer Windows time zone identifier:

Windows Time Zone ID: British Columbia Standard Time ((UTC-07:00) Pacific Time (British Columbia)) IANA Mapping: Missing (HasIanaId : False)

PsyPost: "The authors noted that prior work often treated domestic work only as physical actions, leaving out the constant mental organizing that many women carry." It's not just balancing the physical tasks like laundry/dishes, but sharing the mental load like the calendar and social burdens.

Mathematicians should learn to use AI tools to parse the mess of papers and pull out what they need. Start using the tools to improve the results and get incrementally better. Wilfully ignoring them because they're ugly or use LEAN is blinding yourself.

I agree that OpenAI dumping math results is wrong as it places the burden on the community, but those results shouldn't be ignored. The mathematicians at OpenAI should do more to reach out and format results to match community norms. To my mind they have a job that's similar to Dev Relations.

Created a subreddit to share updates and get feedback. Lots of improvements this past week. I resisted expanding beyond Canadian English/French, because I knew how much work localization can be, but it was interesting once I got underway. #BuildInPublic
