I love these little facts, but I really love that Star Trek mashup.

Mahler's music has been in well over 100 films. There’s a story about a producer who asked if Mahler could write more movie scores…60 years after his death! If you donate to nonprofits on this Giving Tuesday, please consider supporting Colorado MahlerFest. www.coloradogives.org/donate/mahle...

“Interesting” is a mild word to use for these times.

The U.S. is no longer on the side of the good guys.

CALL TO ACTIVISM@calltoactivism.bsky.social

This is so fucking tragic. Today Europe is completely united behind Ukraine and the cause of freedom. Meanwhile the United States is sitting this one out along with Russia and Iran. Make it make sense.

If you’re not outraged at this I have nothing to say to you.

During a GOP town hall at Coeur d'Alene High School, Teresa Borrenpohl called out, “Is this a lecture or a town hall?” Witnesses said three unidentified men, who were not wearing badges or ID, then physically removed from her seat by order of the Idaho county sheriff.

As a journalist who covers extremism at the local level, I think it’s a mistake to view Trump’s Napoleonic statement as solely about presidential power. Consider if it’s interpreted as a wink and a nod for any extremist to act outside the law to “save” the country as they see fit

In case anyone is buying the BS from MAGA. Also, let’s be clear. It’s the same dry winds out of the mountains driving this fire that drove the Marshall Fire (CO) and the Lahaina fire. No budget will change that.

DrDinD.bsky.social@drdind.bsky.social

Mayor Bass did cut the fire budget for LA by $17m (not $23m as claimed on social media) out of $820m. That still budgeted hiring firefighters and emergency paramedics. This cut likely has little impact on the ability to fight current fires nor would it have prevented the current fires.

Seeing this is such a joy. It takes so much effort by so many people to make this happen. I couldn’t be more proud of the role I play and so very much appreciation everyone who is a part of this, board, musicians, audience, and of course our donors who make it all possible.

The Tariff Act of 1930 was designed for protectionist trade. It imposed high tariffs on over 20,000 imported goods which led to retaliatory tariffs from other countries. Why am I telling you this? In case you're ever asked "what were the key contributors to the Great Depression?" The mo' you know

Mahler & Strauss were mirrors that reflected each other & rivals who encouraged one another. They went out of their way to champion each other’s works. When Mahler died in 1911, Strauss began working in earnest on An Alpine Symphony. This work became his memorial to Mahler. youtu.be/T7EVoXOS4x0
